There are two of these in this color at a local used car dealership I pass by on my way to work and every day I want to stop and ask if they're BOGO. But it's also one of those sketchy used car dealers and I'm not a fan of looking down a 12ga.

But you should hold out for an X-11.

It's not an ugly car though, it's very 80's and just needs someone to go bonkers modifying it. It reminds me of the AMC Eagle and makes me want to put big fat chunky tires on it.

Please tell me more. https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2013/07/08/lost-cars-of-the-1980s-chevrolet-citation-x-11/ It was a homologation special, and arguably America's first Hot hatch. With a H.O. version of the 2.8 V6 under the hood, driving the front wheels. A 0-60 time of 8.5 seconds might seem quaint, even laughable, but it was quite respectable for the day.

High output in the world of 1980's Chevrolet Dogshit Specials = 115 hp from a V6.

135hp and 165 lb-ft of torque, actually. Again, for the day... not horrible. Of course, that's 81 only. In 82 it dropped to 135/145 and then when they switched to fuel injection 130/155.

That's really not bad for that era. For comparison, the 351M in my 1980 F-150 was rated at 138 hp.

In my heady highschool days of me-too cars, I actually dyno'd my 1986 2.8 V6 Camaro. MPFI injection. I had a T-5 in it so it wasn't all bad, but it was 115hp to the wheels and 150lbf of torque. Almost perfectly flat torque curve from 1500 - 4500!

That's returning to the scene the next day, right? Because that dry patch over where the hood should be makes me see two possibilities: someone posed a snorkel and roof rack into a normal ankle deep puddle, or they abandoned ship and mud filled in the hole while they tried to figure out what to do.

130 or so HP from a 2.8L V6 seems positively good when you think about the many '80s Cadillacs afflicted with the "HT 4100" 4.1L V8 that had 130-135 hp in most applications. My dad bought an '87 DeVille that was just a heap.

*triggered* The 3rd gen (86-89) Accord ranged from 98 hp to 120 hp in the US. Most had the 98 hp engine (2 barrel carb), the LXi and SEi had multiport fuel injection and got a nice bump up to 120 hp. LXi was basically today's EX - power windows, locks, mirrors, sunroof, and fuel injection (the LX had the same, minus the sunroof and EFI). SEi was essentially the LXi with leather and a Bose stereo. I've owned both versions (both 88s, one DX coupe, one LXi sedan, both 5 speed manual). The carb engine was sluggish, but could still hit 110 (MPH), given a long enough road. The EFI version was considerably quicker. Both had an A20 engine for the US, while the Japanese version likely had a B20 (unrelated to the later B series engines). randomidiot fucked around with this message at 12:32 on Apr 15, 2017 |
