Yeah it's a good event. Easy MC & free bling once you get the Easter surprises and frankly you don't need to really do anything specific other than slot & use UAVs. Which isn't a bad thing to be doing generally anyway.

I'd still wait though, you can always spend it after the announcement and their new conversion plan might be real weird, especially if they plan not to punish the "cheapskates" while still somehow rewarding the whales who actually bought multiple modules.

You really don't need to be a whale to own multiple modules. The good ones are about 6m cbills, and a lot of the weapon specific ones are in the 2.5 range. If you play with any kind of frequency you can get that in a week of doing an hour or two after work.

If you really feel the need to give :pgi: money, the Lolcust pack is a decent buy. For 13 bucks you get 3 mech bays, a month of premium and the Pirate's Bane, which is by far one of the most fun lights in the game.

A set of modules for a mech is exactly18M (the good mech modules are 6M, all weapon modules are 3M); more if it has extra slots. 18M just to save a few clicks before match start (and if you play in groups, you'll have to wait for other players to switch their modules around anyway).

You could buy and fully outfit an assault for that price. You're still not going to buy extra modules until you've unlocked every chassis you are interested in playing and a single copy of every engine and module you could want for those mechs.

If you have unlocked all that, there's three options: you have a super-narrow taste where you only enjoy a few builds, you're an extremely dedicated and long-term player, or you're a whale.

So for hard boiled, it is shut down due to overheating, then turn on override after you reboot and survive until the end of the match?

Can you turn off override afterwards or no?

Overheat and shut down. Wait until your mech powers up again then activate override. You do not need to overheat again after that.

*shrug* I dunno, I'm a casual couple hours a day player, I've bought a couple mech packs but not anywhere near whale territory, and yet I seem to have modules on the mechs I play often enough to want to do so. Most of my mechs aren't moduled up of course, but the ones that I really care about? Yeah.

It's never seemed like that big a hassle.

Er... there's no way of saying this without goonshaming, sorry, but "a couple hours a day" over multiple years now is the definition of an "extremely dedicated and long-term" player. Certainly not "casual" by any reasonable, non-goon standard.

Does this ever go on sale? It's already a pretty good price compared to a lot of the poo poo on the store and I'd like to get a locust, but if sales happen even somewhat regularly I can wait before getting more mechbays.

Thinking about it, since I especially want the extra mechbays, is it possible to get all the exp for the master stuff among the three variants then sell the ones I don't want and keep the mastery mastery bonus for the one I do? Or will selling the other mech variants cause me to lose the Elite and Master stuff?

Also the store is terrible so here is the link right to the locust pack.

I dunno I have a huge pile of money despite only ever intermittently playing this game over the years, but maybe thats because I really only pilot lights and mediums, which are way cheaper to fit and equip than assaults, especially Klan ones.

Once you unlock the perks it doesn't matter if you sell the old mechs, on the locust the only two really worth keeping are the one with the 6 laser slots for spl death vomit and the pirates bounty for the ecm.

Persona 5 finally came out. It's a good game. MWO hasn't had a decent event lately, and it is not a good game, so I haven't played recently. Last night I logged in to do the Easter event, looked at the rewards and their requirements, then logged out without even playing.

I'll be back soon enough. While MWO is bad, playing with Goons makes it fun. Besides, I want to see if I can stay on top of the VIP a second time.

Decided to reinstall this this weekend and played a bit. The last time I loaded it up it wasn't fun at all, but dropping in a few random matches with my dated throwback mechs was entertaining. The first thing I did was accidentally launch an AC round into someone's back while sorting out my weapons groups.

This Crimson map is actually pretty decent and I got into a bunch of crazy tunnel and between-building slugmatches. Maybe my ELO is hosed but it's nice not getting instakilled like the last time I ran it. Also it looks pretty. PGI may be fuckups all over but the graphics are good. Even caustic valley isn't such a shitpile now and watching pubbies overheat immediately is great. Alpine map is still garbage.

:pgi: apparently stripped my founders tag at some point but all the robots are still there I guess. I only ever used those to sell components during closed beta for a quick start whenever they reset everything. Speaking of, how the hell do you sell robots with this new mechlab? I got a bunch of old ones I'd like to toss but I can't figure it out.

Thank you kind sir.

Actually, if there's still some kind of nebulous skill thing coming down the pipe, does anyone know if it makes more sense to hold onto some of them instead of selling? If pgi decides that 3 robots are going to be required to elite a chassis again maybe I should hold off.
