i'm excited to see how much more adventurous MAF gets with each successive win in games 1 & 2 i remember being surprised at how little he ventured out to play the puck, how he didn't wind up on his belly or back too much, and how he didn't bite hard on CBJ players bringing the puck around the net leaving wraparound attempts totally unprotected. in game 3, i remember being worried that there was a little more of all of these things game 4 should be fun

Do I count as a playoff poster if I only come back for the playoffs but I used to be here all the time? That was a very exciting Penguins game yesterday. I was very mad at Bob Errey when he said Fleury kept his head there on purpose to make that save, but he may have been kidding.

Jamwad Hilder posted:the Bruins and Senators rosters for tonight look like AHL teams Here's to hoping they keep it up through round 2. quote:RAS posting on AV Firstly, your D-corps is garbage. When the Habs were running Bealieu with Nesterov and Petry with Benn there was some competition for "worst D-pairings", but when Nesterov got dumped unceremoniously it ended that competition. Girardi-McD makes me question many many things. Mostly: Is Girardi bringing McD down that far or is McD just done? Secondly, your play through the neutral zone during the last game was... bad. Montreal's forwards are generally pretty defensively responsible, but when you get stood up at the blue line 60 times during a game, maybe it's time to try a different breakout strategy. AV could also play adam clendening, who is better than at least 3 of the defensemen who the rangers dressed last night, but he does not do that because Leadership and Experience or some poo poo and i agree regarding the horrible play through the neutral zone, which is also something that it is incumbent, as a matter of strategy, upon the coach to fix. basically nothing that you have said has in any way disabused me of the notion that AV has run his course as the coach of the new york rangers

It's entirely possible he may have his hands tied a little on some of this as well, I can imagine having three of your four highest paid D-men being on the third pair and bench might not reflect well upon the GM / former GM and might be frowned upon. That being said I think this is still very much a series. Rangers need to figure out how to counter the habs forecheck and somehow get the puck off the wall in their zone because the habs are just waiting for the puck to be rimmed along the wall to the wing and are ready to pounce. However if they can figure out the counter to that and start going back to the drop passes on the PP zone entry I think they're very much still in this. My biggest fear is that they're all skittish because their backs are against the wall and are going all out just for the sake of going all out. Prime example of this is Kleiner, makes the awful turnover to Radulov and blindly charges at him to try and make up for his mistake instead of just calmly defending and makes everything even worse. That whole goal is prevented if he just back skates off the turnover. Vesey is the only guy who has looked up and played with the puck a little on the breakout instead of just blindly forcing it ahead into the 3 waiting habs. We need more of that.

hi i'm guy boucher. my favourite disgrace Mark Borowiecki is injured so tonight instead of dressing the competent big swedish kid who plays a solid heads-up hockey and went on a long point streak when he was given a chance to play recently, I'll play the even bigger Canadian kid with maybe four games NHL experience of the best that can be said is "he wasn't completely incompetent". Also, if I spread my terrible fourth line players out across all the lines, I've got no fourth line to be victimized when I put them out against the best team in the league!

Also, if you wanna fire AV, have a dead cat bounce year next year and then suffer the Canucks fate be my guest. If I was to draw a "I'm bad at drawing conclusionsTM" conclusion, it would be that the Rangers aren't really set up to deal with a team that can consistently match or beat the amount of speed they bring. The Habs (also the Pens, and a few others around the league) can definitely do that. You could argue the coach needs to find a solution to that, but I think it cuts both ways and that there are definitely players who need to step it up - players just need to slow it down, panic less in their own zone and make smarter plays through the neutral zone.
