I think a 7 or 8 wins about every year, it seems like. In 2006, the Western Conference had an upset in every 1st-round series, with the next round being #5 vs #8 and #6 vs #7.

Is the NHL thread fluent in NBA memes? Are the Caps shook? Did they blow a 3-1 lead in the third game of the NHL first round playoffs? Does Nazim the Dream have the look? Has Big Man Bozak made the leap? Do the Caps need to blow it up? Is anyone still buying up real estate on Holtby Island? I only post about hockey when the Leafs are in the playoffs (so once every 10 years) so I'm a bit out of the loop.

Turns out that Ottawa looks significantly better when Boucher doesn't just sacrifice a specific line/pairing to the Bergeron line. Trying to hard-match the Pageau line and Phaneuf/Ceci against Bergeron was the dumbest thing in the world in games 1/2, instead of just letting Karlsson take the hard matchups when they came. e: I was also convinced that it was Ryan getting a hit to the head penalty at the end there, but Tim Peel gon' Tim Peel.

Guys, hear me out. I have a crazy idea but don't shoot it down right away. Okay are you ready? Here it goes: Maybe the Capitals should play their best players significantly more than their worst players? Maybe Tom Wilson shouldn't be only 2 minutes behind Ovechkin in TOI in a close game? Maybe...JUST MAYBE...your good players give your team a better chance of winning?

The reason Tim Peel is a terrible ref is because he's incredibly inconsistent. One minute he's calling it like it's the 90s and anything goes, the next minute it's like he got his instructions coming out of the 04 lockout. He wants to manage the game, but he does it by changing his mind on what's a penalty so both teams end up getting jobbed and it just comes down to which one takes advantage of the powerplays. e: eh watching again it was a bad call either way. Point about Peel still stands.

I don't know if question Trotz not getting Ovechkin 19+ minutes because for a large chunk of the 3rd, the Capitals were hemmed in their own end. Kuznetsov and Backstrom also had around 17 TOI.
