2 red X's so far. Not great but what can you do. That said, I'll gladly take another red X tonight in exchange for an Oilers win.

if you just specify game 7s for everyone you get at least 4 games of not having a red X in the first round, it's good.

So, here is the point system we're going to use to rate your ability to pick a winner.
The amount of points will double each round, so the max points per series in the first round is 5 (2 + 3), and the max for the cup is 40 (16 + 24). Accuracy counts!

3 Xs woooooo

Is there a reason for doubling the points each round? I'd understand if we picked every round at the beginning of the playoffs, but what is the added value in correctly guessing the Stanley Cup results when we already know who's in it. Seems like you'd have just as good of a chance of guessing that as you do a random first round series.

I'm saying that it's a lot easier to get one series right to get 40 points than it is to get 6 or 7 series right to get 35 points or w/e. This post is moot if there was a form that allowed us to pick round 2, the conference finals and stanley cup finals that I missed earlier. Like, I totally get what you're saying. It's what NCAA brackets essentially are, except those are completed before the whole things starts so it's impressive to get the Final Four/Championships correct as opposed to just picking between Pittsburgh/Edmonton when you already know both of them are in. I don't have a problem with the scoring system. I think it's fine, and this way it should mean that nobody is truly out, which makes it more exciting at the end. If you're going to complain about it then get good at picking the next 3 rounds, then.

If you would rather, we can assign you the same number of points for a correct pick in the later rounds as you would have received for a correct pick in the first round.
