Z so good
Why is everyone so excited about the Wendy's-FK restaurants? They barely resemble Wendy's anymore, the menu is super limited and they don't even have frosties! Most of the "unusual" items are probably from the First Kitchen menu. The pretzel buns are good I guess but I thought that the old non-FK restaurants were far superior.

Very few left from what I've been told. There used to be one in Ikebukuro that I used to go to/walk pass by but that has been gone for a few years now. A giant Uniqlo building has taken it's place.

The only one that I know of now that's is still around is in Hibiya Square in front of the Godzilla statue.

Fun Wendys in Japan Fact: Their Japanese outlets used to be owned by Daiei who sold them to another company in 2002. A lot of former Wendys locations ended up becoming Dom Dom Hamburger restaurants. They would have the same interior as an old school Wendys(Old timey newspaper design on the tables), and actually sold decent burgers for a Japanese fast food chain. I remember them having all beef patties rather than the mix of pork and beef that a lot of Japanese chains seem to use. There are very few Dom Dom Hamburger locations left so if you have the opportunity to eat there I think it is worth it because they were the original hamburger chain in Japan, opening a year before McDonalds.

My flight out of Japan is pretty early and I probably need to get to Narita between 630 and 7am to check in and stuff.

I'm staying near Tokyo Station and seen that there are buses and trains that leave super early in the morning, so that's not really an issue, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if they fill up or if I can just show up at like 5am and get on.

Buses buy tickets beforehand. Trains you can roll up and get a ticket. Since you're near Tokyo station you can just take the Narita express.

Was 1000Y / ea, you can buy tickets at the bus stop (there seemed to be plenty of room), but I'd bought tickets ahead of time, the guy ushered me to the front of the line, I was the first one on the bus, it was right on time and about 1/4 the cost of a train to Narita. I'd totally do it again.

The earliest I can get to Narita on that is like 7:20 which feels like cutting it close for an international flight that takes off at 8:50, boarding time is probably close to 8:15 or so. I plan on bringing back some stuff whiskey that will require me to check a bag as well. This will be my first time in Narita so I dunno how crowded it would be on a Sunday morning so I admit I might be overthinking this.

I actually missed a (domestic) flight in China on the same airline late last year because they were extremely strict on the boarding time.

Actually, do they sell whiskey in the Narita airport? They didn't in Haneda circa December 2015 and I kicked myself for not picking up a bottle or three at the 1000 random stores I saw it in.

There are automatic ticket kiosks lying around Tokyo station as well for the airport bus limosine or you can get a return ticket at the airport after you clear immigration and customs

Just buy Japanese whiskey at Bic Camera. Import taxes/duties are of no consequence to domestically produced whiskey. The domestic tax for liquor is like 400 yen per liter, and it's charged to the manufacturer, not the consumer (i.e. it's not a sin tax). So invisible to you.

Duty Free in Japan is everywhere at the PoS these days, but it's not applicable to alcohol anyway.

A year or so back when I was in a Yamaya I had to wait like 20 minutes for the person in front of me to do the duty free thing on his liquor.

They kept reminding the dude he had to take it out of the country and swear that he was going to do it - but they certainly let him do the duty-free paperwork to save his 900 yen.

I know that with the JR pass I'm unable to ride on the Nozomi / Mizuho type bullet trains from Tokyo to Shin-Osaka / Kyoto or wherever but is there a website that I can search for the timetable for all non-Nozomi / Mizuho type trains? HyperDia wants to charge me $2.99 a month to view the JR Pass schedule.

I know that I am able to ride on the Hikari train with the JR Rail Pass but some of the trains are the non-N700 models. How do I find out if the Hikari train I want to ride from Tokyo to Kyoto are the N700 models of the Hikari.
