Having sat around in a MAD-IIC for awhile (grinding elite), it's not a bad mech. XL makes it a bit more iffy but you basically have to be a Popsicle before you die anyway. My problem is that because of my work schedule, I end up in pub drops which always vote for friggin LRM maps. Such is life I guess.

The build is not 100% correct, I am missing something but I'm at work and can't check my in-game build right now.

Scorch can do 2x LB-10X, 4x ASRM-4, 360 XL, and bunches of ammo. The MAD-IIC is a beast on p much every version.

It runs hot as balls so you basically have to be an ambush predator - jump out, alpha twice, go hide. Because of this the UAC jams aren't that big an issue. By the time you're jamming you're having to cool down anyway. It also makes a good dual gauss dual PPC (or LPL) platform. Really there's just a poo poo ton of things it can do. The only downside is that people will focus you the gently caress down because everyone knows how dangerous they are.

Is there a decent guide to community warfare anywhere? I'd like to try it, but it seems like the penalty for leaving a faction is high(?) so I don't want to gently caress it up. Is the Clan unit mentioned in the OP still active'ish?

It can be a lot of fun if you're with a group who is coordinated with voice chat and knows what they're doing. I hit up a friend's unit now and again and they've got their poo poo together enough for CW that they win more often than not. In those situations it's a lot of fun, a good way to get a bunch of XP on mechs you don't want to QP with, and a good way to earn a fair chunk of change. Unfortunately all that's contingent on having a good group. If you get into a group with a bunch of randos and get steamrolled it's not fun, you make gently caress all cbills or XP, and it takes way longer before you can bail out.

You can drop solo and be lucky if the other team is also a huge pug drop, but yeah a pug group vs an organized group will usually lose. I've only had one game where it was me and a couple other really, really good pugs and the rest of the team of mediocre players vs. a coordinated 10 man drop of one of the really bad groups and we managed to win just barely.

GIRL is pretty active in the thought of I hop on once in the evening to do a solo match or two but if there's goons on I'll shoot butts for a while (this doesn't happen often). Speakin of: if you guyz play with other goon groups or even tolerable pubbies and they're cool with it (this means ask first) if y'all drop their communication information in the thread I'll put it in the OP. Speaking of of: Unless someone's nicer than myself GIRL isn't sending out invites right now because of that dumb oval office bills thing to invite until there's a CW event. They added a new chat channel, IS Chat, that everyone in an IS faction can use. I assume theres a clan equivalent as well. It makes the chat notification icon flash constantly so you cant tell if someone has sent you an invite without clicking.

When you're running the splat marauder the biggest concern imo is just alpha striking as much damage as possible, not sustainability in a brawl. When you take a gimmick you run with it instead of settling for less. This thing should be closing within 270m and blasting the poo poo out of enemy assaults. Range shouldn't be an issue, and the spread isn't that significantly lower to make up for the lost damage if you're landing hits.

I was hoping the patch would fix my game, but I still get the "disconnected from server" message every time a map tries to load. I can get into the testing grounds, but that's it. I can't seem to find a fix for it. Any goons here ever managed to resolve the issue? Edit: I've already tried running the repair tool, re-installing the game, making sure Direct X and all that other stuff is up to date, flushing my DNS...From what I've read it has something to do server side, but no one knows what. The Pfsense traffic shaping config for MWO is ridiculous, not only for the sheer number of ports it uses, but also that some dev actually bothered to make a QoS setting for MWO.
