When you turn around and spear someone in the nuts it's as blatant of an attempt to injure someone as it gets. Plus you can permanently injure somebody by doing that. It's just bad and lovely.

That's another issue. The NHL seems to define "intent to injure" as trying to knock a guy out a few games. A nut shot isn't going to do that probably, but the whole goal of doing it is to make the guy hurt. A slash is intent to injure. Fighting is intent to injure.

The game is literally built around "intent to injure." Defense men don't get plastered to the glass every single time they clear the puck because it promotes longevity. Granted there's a big gap between "ruptured testicle" and "oh gently caress that hit made my shoulders a little sore" but if you want to be super pedantic, it's still an "injury."

PPs per series going into tonight's games: https://twitter.com/JasonGregor/status/854817451896438785 I mean, everybody can bitch about the refs as much as they want, but at least every series has had the PP chances difference be close except for the Oilers-Sharks.

I haven't watched a single one of the games but there's no way an 11-9 count in Columbus/Pittsburgh is calling it fair.

Yeah even is not fair on penalties

I'm happy with tonight's result against the Toronto Maple Leafs of Toronto. Brooks Orpik though... Woof.

Is it ever okay to spear a man in the nuts?

If one of the Toronto players decided to spear Andersen in the nuts on the way to the rink it might help improve their chances next game.

I want to make a rant post about the referees in the Caps Leafs game tonight, but it's the playoffs and poo poo happens. I'll just enjoy the win and go to sleep instead.

Look I know it's just 2017 Bobby Ryan but maybe defend him once in a while.

tom wilson has now scored 3 times the leafs/caps series so i think that's grounds to eliminate the leafs by itself

I wanted another OT but sloppy Brown/Carrick giving way to a Soft Goal on Andersen robbed us of that. Thought it was going to be a blow out with the way that game started though, so at least it turned out somewhat interesting for a little while.
