Those are most likely buildings, so unless you intend to hire a crew to somehow dig up and transport the thing back into our territory we'd need to then have the Count expend resources guarding it. And then it'd probably just get blown up by a one of the other mercs' fighters anyway. I think there's already some in our territory so this isn't urgent, but it's one more thing that'd be nice to not have to rely on the locals for. e: if they ARE trucks then fuckit, let's send our squad of overpaid dropouts to jack one.

Operation: Swipe a Scope We secure the radar site location by paratroopers. Land our C-130 on a long enough and flat enough dirt road, pack up the radar trucks onto the C-130, then fly it out of there.

With all the talk of what SMARF and the Sultan had in terms of air forces, we never really looked at Angola's capability, and oh boy is it a doozy. On top of the new F-16s there's also a bunch of Su-30MK's on strength. Of this lot, I can also see the Su-22s and Su-25s still being on strength, with the F-16s taking over from the Fishbeds and Floggers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Air_Force_of_Angola#Current_inventory

Creating er Heaven sounds like an amazing idea. Also, I was thinking, that 737 Wedgetail is the biggest threat to our forces so we need to neutralize it. Was thinking something along these lines; 1. Send in goon ground forces at night to airport where 737 is parked. Include 2 or 3 pilots in the ground element. 2. Ground forces crash through airport fence in Geo Metro, take 737. Pilots fly it back to our base. 3. As a contingency plan, a small force of Phantoms screams in a low altitude with orders to paste the gently caress out of the 737 with 500 pound bombs if it isn't ours. If it is, they drop them on the aircraft parking and get the gently caress out. 4. Scramble all our Gripens and other A2A poo poo to escort the 737 back to base. 5. Gee Goons, how come Yooper lets you have 2 AWACS?

I'm also pretty sure they'd have at least one guy with an AT rocket that would rather disable it than let us keep it. As much as a permanent base would be neat I kinda want to see us keep accumulating more and more aircraft and just showing up at some tiny airport and going "ok, we need space for 58 fighters, 6 cargo aircraft, 4 tankers ..." e: no clusters! We're supposed to be the good guys

Unfortunately Koolkev, Rohan already has a wingman named Silent Bob, her hetero life mate. Mission #1 Right now we have three main issues, along with a shitload of other issues. How we respond to these three will dictate how the front moves. If we can accomplish all three, then yay. If we can't there will be issues. Right now Angolan ground forces are making a concerted push on Menongue with a mechanized group. To the west, and very near to us, are some Astros II MLRS Launchers. Finally the aid convoys are moving about delivering, erm, aid. The Dictator is likely to push and try and destroy those columns if possible. Until we came the front was pretty static. Von Hoff's units lacked the strength to take over government positions and The Dictator's Troops didn't really care what Von Hoff did as he possessed some dirt, more dirt, and an elephant. Once again it seems like the moment a professional military organization walks in people get excited. But first off, our objectives. This angry looking little truck delivers 300mm rockets. It delivers them surprisingly accurately. Guess where they're headed? In range of Lubango Airfield. Oh hey, that's where we live. In addition they have support units to push just close enough so these guys can get off a volley. These things drop enough ordnance in one salvo to equal what our entire air wing dropped on Lhasa. Think about that. The T-55 is a lovely tank. But it's an awesome loving tank when the other side doesn't have one. In addition they've got some creaky old BMPs and other weird old Soviet armored junk. Our ground troops are pretty bad rear end, but it's tough gently caress up a tank with a rifle. It's a stretch to Menongue, 283 miles. Our SK60B's lack the legs. And in between is a nice open stretch that leads right to our next objective. Trucks. Filled with food. And Aid, and probably not vodka. They are delivering that poo poo to various collection points where it'll get distributed and not lead to another heart wrenching, Pulitzer prize winning photo. You know the one. Seeing as the infrastructure is pretty loving terrible we need to cover these guys for awhile. RECON No, not the idiots who had the thunderdome, but our birds. We can send up the S100B, take a peak, and drop back down. There's no threat, it's a gimme so you guys know where the hostiles might have SAM's or Radar. But these people aren't dumb. They won't leave every radar on the country running for our convenience. They might even pulse them on and off. Once I'm all done building the entirety of Angola I'll send up a plane and show you guys what to be seen. For now we get intel from the grunts, so if they're in contact, we'll know about it. Planning scenario inbound when it's done. It's mission time Hired Goons!

Okay, broad strokes plan that someone will eventually do better than me: MLRS Issues: Sk60s + maybe a Tornado or 2 in case they have AAA moving with them + Gripen air cover. Maybe if we have a few rockets left over we can drop by a nearby radar to say "hi." Convoy: Did someone say Gripens? Cause that's what's going to be happening there. Tanks: I'd err towards the Tornadoes on this one too, maybe bring in the Frogfoots depending on the intel we get.

# ? Apr 21, 2017 01:59 |

Welp. Two tornadoes to the MLRS site, one with HARMs, one with an MW-1. HARM watches for SAMs, the other obliterates the battery with bomblets. If there's anything left, the Sk60s roll in and do their thing. 8 Gripens assigned to top cover for the aid convoy and dealing with the enemy armour, the Su-25s and Hawks on suppression of the tank convoy. Send a pair of tornadoes too, again as SEAD platforms. Phantoms are held back, ready to act against either element as required. I don't think all eight would be required, but you never know. Arm them with Mavericks. VC-10 tops up fuel of the CAP, while big pig is sent up after the Phantoms if they're needed to act as a recovery platform. I'll make a fancy version of this with a map and names and everything later, it'll be great.

Odds are the MLRS site would have IR SAM rather than radar. Definitely agreed on the SEAD overwatch for the Frogfoot armor strike. poo poo, a Reaper at high altitude could probably pick off the Astros one by one, were it not for the threat of scrambled fighters.

We need to take care of ourselves before the aid trucks, so I'd prefer more assets taking out the artillery and BMPs than guarding the trucks.

Now, if you saturate the area with 2600 bomblets, you're likely to get a bunch of support vehicles, stuff like reloaders and ammunition trucks, as well as the valuable support crews. Plus, they're quite close to the front line so when we capture the area we can get the NGOs that deal with minefield clearing to clear the area of UXO.

Please note the MLRS is probable the Astros II (yooper can we confirm this) if it is here is some info on it's deployment. The Astros II are normally grouped in artillery batteries consisting on average of about 13 vehicles: 6 of them are Astros II launchers, 6 are rocket resupply trucks and 1 a special radar-equipped vehicle controlling the fire-control system
