I've seen a few early stories and they were quite dumb as well but these late 90s and 2000s strips were created by increasingly senile old men. These strips were published just four months before Falk's death.

Of interest to probably nobody outside this thread, I accidentally sabotaged Luann recently. A small part of my job is making Spanish color files for Luann, and a couple weeks ago I named the files incorrectly and dropped them in a hot folder, which overwrote the English line files on the server with Spanish.

So a bunch of papers ended up with Spanish Luann strips and either ran those by accident or just didn't run the strip, and editors said a lot of Luann fans were very upset they missed important plot points.

It was me, Luann fans, the author of all your pain
