2x Gripen with air to air load out
2x Frogfoot with ground strike/SEAD and 2x Hawk with cluster bomb munitions.
1x Tornadoes with SEAD loadout.
6 Sk-60 with rocket loadouts

Convoy defense:
2x Gripen 2x F4 with A2A loadouts patroling over the convoys.
1x Tanker to keep them in the air.

Tank column attack:
2x F4 with A2A loadouts escort.
4x F4 with 2000lb bombs
1x Tornado with SEAD loadout.

Opportunity strike:
2x Gripen with A2A loadouts escort.
2x Tornadoes with SEAD/HARM missiles.
1x Prowler with HARM missiles.

Reserve:
The S-100 orbits close to our base and provides overwatch.
2x Gripen with A2A loadouts on ready 5. They scramble after any enemy air assets spotted.

This is a modified proposal from Saro's, it isn't meant to be particular serious I just wanted to throw out something with cluster munitions for the hell of it. I'll probably continue to throw out hail mary style maximum war crimes proposals as we increase our equipment just for fun and practice.

That plan doesn't put early enough ordnance airborne. Two Su-25s can't carry enough ordnance to kill an MLRS battery and we've seen how horrible inaccurate the SK 60s are against tanks and troops in the open.

They also have to get down and dirty, which gives them a chance to hit them with MANPADS and AAA.

It also hits the tank column with only eight bombs, again not enough to get the job done.

Our SK60s did well when they weren't fighting dug-in targets. The rockets aren't meant for taking out heavy armor, especially not heavy armor protected by earthworks. On the other hand, MLRS batteries and trucks are soft targets with plenty of ordnance to touch off with a hail of explosives. As long as there's no serious anti-air to take them out, I trust the little planes.

Pretty sure you could build a nuke with like, a high school science class provided you have access to the fissile material. Good luck on that part. Further good luck with schlepping a freefall nuclear bomb into an area defended by modern SAMs and living to tell the tale. And then not getting blacklisted for work from like, literally the entire planet.

Or we could not keep trying to ruin these poor civilians' lives even more than they were before <> If we were working for the dictator it'd be one thing but we're ostensibly on Team Not gently caress Everything Up Even More! I still think it might be worth sending the Reaper with the MLRS group. Its optics would be great for making absolutely sure we pasted those things before we find out that surprise, a single launcher survived and our S100 got shot up on the ground by rocket artillery.

I hate that we're not utilizing a bunch of our assets but I don't see what they can usefully do.

Maybe we should sell them for something that will make the lineup.

The other obvious improvement to first impressions is have the SK60s in the air if the MLRS gets into range. Not sure what they'd actually do from there but we may as well have them in the air rather than getting rocketed on the ground.

Edit: Maybe send the reaper out to be at the likely launch zone with 60 minutes until the MRLS ETA into their launch zone. It can loiter, and if they start to show up, launch the SK60s and have them try a last ditch run on the MLRS.

Hahaha, wtf? Rockeyes have to be launched low to the ground and directly over the target. Any guy who thinks to aim his rifle upwards is going to be a threat. I keep going on about the Tornados being vulnerable when deploying their cluster dispensers, but at least they can scream by at just under the speed of sound when doing it. This is just going to get our Hawks killed with only a 50-50 shot of them getting to launch their bombs first.

I never said the war crimes were for our enemies only did I? On a serious note.

Yooper is it possible to vector our strike against the MRLS's in transit? Or will we have to wait till they reach their launch positions?

My thought for the MRLS strike was that we hit them while they are moving, I am guessing any serious AA assets would need to be stationary for full effectiveness then again i could be wrong.

As for the tank strike mission it depends, if I had time I could go back and modify the plan, divert those two Gripens from opportunity to ground attack. Then again I also want to give the Frogfoots their incendiary bombs for maximum hate and war crime. Too late now but something I will consider in the future.

I believe Yooper said the artillery begins in transit and takes something like 10 hours to reach a firing position, so unless we completely goof off we should be hitting them in transit.

Something that Reaper would be very good at, and it's otherwise unassigned.

By the way, someone else mentioned this earlier, but radars off and jammers on is kind of a weird combination. You can spot jammers just the same and some systems can even specifically lock onto them.

Coffeehitler posted:

The Tornadoes should be used to knock out the enemy radar along the border. The nice long ranges on the HARMs should let us perform the mission from (relative) safety. Phantoms and their nice big bombs should be used to push back the Eastern push, while providing escort for the aid convoy assisted by the CAS birds. Maybe some of the CAS platforms can be used against the MLRS while the Gripens are playing top cover.

The Gripens have the downside of only being able to effectively engage surface vessels while carrying Meteors. The only other non-A2A non-fuel tank device they can carry is a recce pod if they are carrying Meteors, and we need the long range A2A until the enemy doesn't have anything comparable. So Gripens are not exactly playing mud mover for awhile.

We have 3 radar targets near our targets, and an airbase. The Tornadoes can carry a stand-off weapon that can put a nice big hole in that runway. Therefore, here's my plan:

Assignments are listed as
#x Airframe (#x loadout) Notes

Plan Big Papa

Strike Group 1: Targeting MLRS

3x Gripen (Standard Intercept) for the 4x Meteor
2x Tornadoes (2x HARM) HARMs for the Radars
4x Phantoms (4x Paveways) MLRS/SAMs
6x SK-60 (M49 Rockets) MLRS and other soft/medium vehicles (these are HEAT rockets)
2x SU-25 (AT-16 Scallion) MLRS OR other targets

IF TIME PERMITS, AND RANGE PERMITS
2x Tornadoes refitted to (1x HARM, 1x KEPD) and sent out again to further degrade opposing radar AND IF POSSIBLE (Range Permitting) degrade nearby airfield facilities (RUNWAY target, KEPD) OTHERWISE (2x HARM) for continued SEAD operations
SK-60s and SU-25s refitted for same load and repeat strikes if reasonably permissive

Strike Group 2: Support Menogue

3x Gripen (LR Intercept) 2x Meteor (they need the legs)
2x Tornadoes (2x HARM) HARM for Radar
4x Phantoms (4x Paveways) Tanks
2x Hawk 209 (2x Mavericks) You guessed it, Vehicles
1x Prowler (1x HARM, Short-Range) 4 Jammer pods, can hit a tanker if need be

Convoy support/Support Aircraft/Notes
2x Gripen (Standard Intercept) Race track patrol pattern over the Convoys.
1x KC-135 Race track pattern South of the Convoy route roughly parallel to the border
1x VC-10 Race track with KC-135 roughly half track off and a bit further south
1x S 100 Orbiting south of the Lubango airbase (We can't let a lucky LR A2A knock this guy out)

Both Tankers away from the front-lines, but in a position that they can gas up SG2 if needed.
AWACS up and behind the front-line.
If necessary, we can have a pair of Gripen keeping either group of support aircraft safe
The convoy is more trouble-some, the fast movers for SG2 can support but they burn munitions to support the defense of Menogue but there's not much else to send that can be refueled which will degrade the other two groups. Maybe SG2 can play top cover for it?

Degrading the enemy's radar coverage over the front could force the deployment of any AWACS platforms, giving us a chance to knock it out either now or in a future op. Negation or suppression of the close airfield would improve response time to an incoming raid by enemy forces by forcing them to base from further away. The ranges involved make this one a difficult op to plan, but I think I have everyone that can't aerial refuel in SG1 and with long enough legs to go, hit the target(s) and come back.

:siren: This plan includes 0 (zero) cluster munitions because we're apparently something called "ethical mercenaries" whatever the dick that means.
:siren:

edit: Forgot about the Reaper Drone. Switched the Phantoms to Paveways due to the massive difference in damage between the two.

:frogsiren:MAKING A MK2 OF PLAN BIG PAPA DUE TO RECENT INTELLIGENCE:frogsiren:

More SEAD, and pulling potential anti-Runway duty to a second launch for Strike Group 1 Tornadoes. The KEPD has a range of 180 nm, which should let the runway be hit from a safe distance.
