Jose posted:I think hamprince just lusts for war in the middle east But Corbyn personally isn't a great speaker with of lot of charisma or whatever, he was a soft-spoken backbencher without much ambition. The other issue is the migrant panic, which hasn't and won't go away for a long time, and is now currently pushing France towards Le Pen. The default stance on that issue has I think decisively shifted right, in a pretty big way. So even if Brexit makes the economy go south, I don't think the conservatives are going to suffer much from it, because the dominant force behind leave was never about economic efficiency, but immigrants & the way migrant workers have been demonized for the effects of austerity and such. So even if people want higher minimum wage and poo poo, they won't vote labor because migrants. rudatron has issued a correction as of 10:57 on Apr 22, 2017 |

Why does all the media outlets seem to hate Corbyn anyway? Even The Guardian hates him. Is it just because he's a socialist? His policies seem pretty sensible on paper.

In that case they should probably consider making some changes, the polls are not looking great for them. Obviously doesn't help that a lot of ill informed workers are voting for the rich people to screw them over, due to their misguided fears of immigrants. Seems like just some basic history lessons would make them realize how silly it is to just blame the immigrants.

Tingfinder posted:Is it just because he's a socialist? Yes. If Jezza and friends were more charismatic and relatable, then that would only amplify the terror of him - and the media environment would become even more nasty. The Guardian is owned by a private trust company. The entire British media takes their marching orders from people who are violently opposed to any genuine socialist advocacy.

There was one named Jo Cox, but she was murdered. edit: i should note that i don't think this was a conspiracy or anything, the murderer was a far-right racist: Cox was singled out for attack as a "passionate defender" of the European Union and immigration. Mair viewed the Labour MP as "one of 'the collaborators' [and] a traitor" to white people. The court heard testimony that during the attack, Mair had cried out "This is for Britain" as well as "keep Britain independent" and "Britain first" Tingfinder has issued a correction as of 14:46 on Apr 22, 2017 |

Looks like there's still hope that May will screw this up: British PM May refuses to rule out personal tax hikes after election "The top-selling Sun newspaper splashed "No, No, No Prime Minister" on its front page while the Daily Telegraph said the prime minister risked a backlash, as the normally supportive newspapers attacked May's early campaign steps." http://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-election-may-idUSKBN17O0D6?il=0 Also Britain taking a backseat as Trump wants to do trade deal with EU first.
