Yeah tbh you can't really argue Rooney was a waste of money or they paid too much in transfer fee, he was their star player for the best part of a decade.

Klopp's 13pts clear thanks to video ref

Rooney was a great purchase at the time, has been great for 10+ years, but United should have scaled back his wages/role over the last couple of years and found a proper replacement for him. Easier said than done though.

It's insane that after Fergie almost literally said "do not give this man a new contract, sell him now" they went and gave him a massive new deal which basically made him unsellable.

Man Utd would probably allow him to recover at their facility, keep a good relationship and re-sign him if he fully recovers.

Rooney just looks like a fat person, though. Cut from the same cloth as Ricky Hatton.

IMO no level of cardio could rescue him from an early decline. Also just mileage. He's been around forever and went all-out for many of those years.

He's gonna blow up so fast when he retires, the only way it could be worse is if he was South American surrounded by mountains of beef at every meal.

Kante would have been infinitely better than Pogba and half the cost. Play him and Herrera in the middle with Mkhitaryan, Mata, and Martial/Rashford in front then Zlatan up top and you have a balanced midfield.

You should be getting more than 'good' for a world record transfer. You should also get a player that can step it up a level in the big games. He was absolutely woeful against us.
