More importantly, it takes into consideration what is fashionable at that time and in that place; a well dressed man projects that he is self-possessed, active and in a rarefied section of the zeitgeist. Dweebs and nerds, however, want to dress like their favorite movie, tv or anime characters. Hence all the loving fedora\trilby action, tweedy three piece Dr. Who suits, bowties and churchwarden pipes, Anton LeVay supervillain getups, Gavin McInness' whole horn rim suspender nightmare, etc etc. They want to look like what they think is cool, instead of what the world thinks is cool and, as a result, they look like children playing dress up & it's very hard to take them seriously. Dweebs don't understand that dressing to impress is more about everyone else's taste than your own, so they spend ungodly amounts of time and money to look like cyberpunk George Bernard Shaw and are, as a result, flashes in the pan at worst, c level entertainers at best. Leftists are no better because we end up looking like a bunch of cruddy sleep deprived Zizeks in the main, but at least it doesn't look like we're trying so hard. If you're the kind of person who could legit be the face of the alt-right, are personable, likeable, can work a crowd, don't show up to public events wearing whatever you slept in the night before, etc. you could do far, far better by just getting involved in mainstream Republican politics instead of cozying up to the alt-right. It's not like you can't have crazyass opinions and be successful there... As for clothing, if you're a geek with no sense of style and you find yourself speaking at public events somehow, for crying out loud, go to a men's clothing store that has a tailor in-house and spring for a traditional cut blue suit, black shoes, and a couple matching ties, then a traditional cut grey suit, more matching ties, and some brown shoes, then add in a pile of plain white dress shirts and dress socks and you're gonna be the dapperest little fucker in 99% of the rooms you go into and you can drat near get dressed in the dark. poo poo, you're gonna be able to do this for under a grand if you wait for sales, and it might be Men's Wearhouse kind of quality, but you're gonna look way better than the rest of the geeks who use clothing to avoid having to have a personality.

I mean, part of the reason that advice won't be useful is that most of the true believers' "alt" status stems from the fact that they aren't socially or economically equipped to be a Republican, and either don't want the party (because it isn't _______ enough) or the party doesn't want them (because it usually frowns on people who overtly state their admiration for Nazism or who make time for rape jokes when they do speaking gigs) It's not that I think your advice is wrong, it's that most of those people have already found their way to the GOP, and the ones who haven't or can't are part of the alt-right because they're ideologically insane, extremely weird, or young and broke
