I never really saw Scaramouche as gay. He seems like a flamboyant robot who lacks sexuality.

Personally, I would describe him as bombastic instead of flamboyant.

Bust Rodd posted:This discussion is the reason time travel plots are basically universally ducking stupid no matter what. TIME is not a thing or a place, it's an idea, and you cannot move to different points on an idea. Doesn't that kind of thing make it better, not worse? It's kinda cool to take an abstract concept and work with if it as if it were some tangible thing that can be manipulated directly. Though time in particular is a concept that a lot of people think about all the time and is really important culturally. It's real enough to most people in how they perceive it. So I think it's a little disingenuous to argue that it is "just" some abstract concept and that's the end of it. If someone says, I wish I could travel back in time so I could do things differently, you'd understand what they meant without further clarification. The fact that the words technically don't make sense, doesn't actually matter. That's just the way we often think about time. Additionally, time travel in this show is pretty much just a conceit so we can have cool futuristic adventures with a samurai from feudal Japan. It's fun and not worth getting bent out of shape about.

I personally didn't think there was anything even remotely sexual about Scaramouche whatsoever, and think it's kind of tellingly homophobic of anyone who interprets him as gay (because he's musical and talks in an annoying voice?). It's exactly like when Randy Marsh fails to correctly guess "Naggers" on Wheel of Fortune.

Scaramouche was Sammy Davis Jr I believe. Also in terms of Jack losing his sword, I bet Aku just thinks that Jack is playing some mind games with him like that one time in season 4. And in timelines, I think it'd be more like DBZ Future Trunks sort of thing.

I bet you anything Scaramouche is going to end up defecting when he finally gets to Aku and realizes he was never really that important to him. Or he's gonna get to Aku, tell him Jack has no sword, then Aku gets to Jack and finds he DOES have the sword--if Aku survives that encounter Scaramouche is gonna have some poo poo to answer for. In previous seasons the show addressed the idea that Jack just assumes all the robots are only capable of evil when they are capable of true emotion and humanity, and I feel like it'd bring things full circle to show that in this season. Also I feel like it'd be a little disappointing if Jack doesn't somehow Get Back. I was honestly put off by the newest episode but I'm stickin with it, I gotta see this to the end. nerdbot fucked around with this message at 20:39 on Apr 25, 2017 |

Yeah, I think the fact his introduction was him casually commenting on a massacre he had committed just to get Jack's attention, might make a last minute redemption come off as a little odd.

Yeah, I'd imagine he's going to be comic relief through and through, and ultimately dies an ignominious (if fitting/hilarious) death.
