Boss, if they make us find seven lost crystals, I'm quitting.

But in this one here:

the suits are just in some weird suit rack thing and the orbs are just in a pile on the side. Why did he hand one to her? Did he know it was nanotech and she could absorb them? If so, wouldn't he have like...said something, or been more excited about it, not just handing her a thing like "yeah here I found this on the floor, bye"? None of this makes any loving sense.

Alice Grove isn't great, but I really respect Jeff Jacques for being willing to go out of his comfort zone and grow as an artist, especially when his business model is centered around boring people making weak jokes at each other while wearing merchandisable t-shits.

He's been at drawing Alice Grove for about two years now and I'm not really seeing much growth.

JJ makes bank off his bad comics but it really seems like the guy's got no potential to improve on.

"This webcomic is bad and I hate it. As proof, here are multiple example pages with context and character names."

This isn't like the old Dominic Deegan mock threads, those people enjoyed hating that comic. (I'd know, I was one of them.) This is just one of a billion mediocre webcomics that is apparently a hatedrug for 30% of the goon population, and all of them keep reading and keep joylessly hating it, and I have no idea why.

Good comics??

Sakana is a fun comic about friends and relationships and working in the biggest wholesale fish market in the world. It doesn't update on Sundays, but I just wanted to say I'm impressed at how well the regular strips are drawn in ink pen.

When it actually updates, Everblue usually updates on Sundays. It's a really beautiful comic with some cool worldbuilding, but the artist's actual job keeps him from updating it more than like once every two months, which is really frustrating.

Another good one I found a while back (that updates on Mondays and Wednesdays, but whatever) is Parallax. Its this incredibly well drawn sort of affectionate send up of Sailor Moon/Madoka Magica type magical girl stories only featuring a boy in the pivotal role instead. The writing's really matured since the artist started updating regularly too.

So there. There's a pair of Good webcomic recs to balance out the thread's bile fascination with utter garbage poo poo.

That thing in Questionable Content recently where a weird god robot showed up and fixed the plot was highly unusual. Like, what a strange move to make from a writing perspective. You set up stakes and a conflict, and then just have a previously un-introduced character possessed of unlimited and poorly defined powers walk into a coffee shop and fix it.

The dude is so incredibly thin skinned that when people complained he wasn't drawing a character thick enough he got drunk and stabbed his own hand in retaliation. That's the second time he posted online about getting his hand stabbed for the record, although he claims the first time was an "accident".

It's not a low blow as much as it is an observation at this point.

As I recall, at the time he was trying to go cold-turkey on alcohol after it became a problem, so I think it was less a case of 'thin skin' and more 'happened at a really lovely time for him'.
