That's if they don't succumb to the pressure and misery of their present situation. The whole series could be an extended version of this play and they still might lose.

I'm not that worried, right now. I mean, yeah, this exact scenario has happened multiple times in years past, but the Caps should come out on top in the end.

Yeah. I thought the refs were going to call a tight, regular season style game based on that (pretty soft) early Ovie interference penalty, but no, just random shitiness.

No clue. That's not how Boucher wants his team to play. I have a feeling Ottawa is going to massively tighten up next game and we'll be back to games with sub 30 sog

Eh? This absolutely isn't true: http://www.behindthenet.ca/projecting_to_nhl.php

The SHL/KHL/AHL are pretty comparable in terms of quality, and the only one you could absolutely make a case for being better than the others is the K.

Well, he's not an elite goalie. He's an average to some years above average one. But he's playing like an elite goalie right now, and that's all that matters.

The one thing I'll say about Boucher is that he is a very good coach. His boring lovely hockey is absolutely what this team should be playing given their talent level (outside of EK and the top 3 forwards they don't have any real skill players). As long as the rules favour guys playing trap hockey I can't blame the guy who coaches the way that allows them to win.

As an owner though I think Melnyk is making a huge mistake. Boucher style hockey is costing him money because their games are loving boring. They didn't even sell out a second round playoff game. That is insane in a Canadian market.

Caps really didn't look that scary to me. seemed about equally as dangerous as CBJ

that game made me miss letang a lot because the penguins spent huge stretches of the second and third periods in their own zone chipping the puck up the boards and hoping for the best. having a defenseman who could actually skate the puck out of danger and make a breakout pass could have been a game changer

yeah i don't think they looked great, but i also didn't think like washington looked dominant, especially when you take into account how they started playing super aggressive once they went down 2-0

i just think it's kind of silly to say "if the caps play the rest of the series like game 1 then they'll be fine"

The shot attempts were pretty even until the Pens went up 2-0 and then they rocketed up in the Caps' favor which is what tends to happen when one team is up.

The Pens probably shouldn't rely on turtling for an entire half of a game though. Caps are too good to give them that many chances.
