19 points for the Doggies, that's some kind of score lol. These games are almost unpickable this year.

Hey, at least Mitch Wallis played really well in the VFL in his return from a broken leg. Just plunk him inside forward 50 to replace Smith (who looked really slow last night, I dunno if he's unfit or if his multiple reconstructions are taking their toll) and it would probably be the best way to ease him back in. edit: It's kinda funny how much the Giants were banging on about how "we had this game circled on our calender" and they still barely won after our best tackler got knocked out in the final quarter and we were playing Dunkley as our second ruckman. They honestly made a mistake with recruiting so many old blokes as on-field leaders; Deledio is unsighted, Griffen & Johnson are cooked and Mumford is plodding about with his career being extended thanks to the third man up changes. The Deliberate rule last night was a clusterfuck, one bad call early on and they basically had to call every single similar one as deliberate even if they were just poo poo kicks.

Testekill posted:Mumford is plodding about with his career being extended thanks to the third man up changes. I won't argue the Deledio, Griffen or Johnson stuff, but Mumford is staggeringly important to the Giants. This year he averages the second highest hit-outs per game and is tied for first in Frees for/game (he is tied with Joel Selwood, which is a pretty impressive feat). The third man up rules have helped him, but they took him from "very good" to "pretty much necessary". If you're looking for a guy who's going to give you first use, he's in that category of players you need to seriously look at. If he gets injured again, the Giants are probably still going to hurt badly.
