I played this game for about a month in 2003 and I just started playing as an alpha. It's confusing as gently caress but definitely scratches a nerdy itch! I am having fun progressing on my own but is there maybe a super casual goon corp I could join? Just mining and PVE or something. I can't commit much time but I feel like I should at least see what it's like to be in a fleet and communicate outside of the "Rookie Help" channel. Goonwaffe has no time commitment or anything like that. The only thing is that if you join, you'll want to head out to null security space right away. Because we're the largest group in the game, we exist pretty much under perpetual war declarations, which allow no-consequence PVP in highsec for all actors in the wardec. Null security space is more dangerous, but much more profitable. GSF has very robust newbie support programs.

Found it. It was a J4G named Drakegrim who outted himself almost immediately, and melted down and bought AVs when he got called on it. It starts here with two J4Gs simultaneously posting in the thread. Goes for a few pages. Later on Ian Praetorius posts this, which was him getting scammed for ~15b in plex that he bought with a credit card. Images are dead, but it was a pretty good run.
