Having only a passing knowledge of Paramore, I dig the new song.

Also, HAIM finally has a new song out. It's... surprisingly mellow, but I guess I like it.

I hope the full Foster the People album drops pretty quick. I like Lotus Eater (the new song they've played live a few times) more than 2/3 of this single, Do it for the Money being the exception.

Of course it took me a while to really dig Supermodel so who knows.

Honestly to me it just sounds like regular old Fall Out Boy but with dubstep rather than guitars.

There's a thread for it, but the Gorillaz album mentioned here is fuckin' incredible. Much better than the early release singles implied.

Is it? Because I listened to the whole thing yesterday and the production was great but not a single song stuck out to me.

Lea Michele released a new album a few days ago. If you like a solid, clean vocal performance for some background music you should give it a try. Virtually all of the songs had potential to be great, but by the time the final chorus comes around it's just more of the same without any significant variation and most of songs don't even have a distinct bridge. Her voice sounds great, and hopefully she gets better writers in the future because she is definitely capable of more.

Really? Maybe give Ascension and Let Me Out another listen. Most of the songs, really, are lyrically striking, except Momentz and Sex Murder Party.

Since there's no Beatles thread (which is fine, I don't suppose we really need one) I just want to mention that the Sgt. Pepper 50th anniversary remix/deluxe edition is available on streaming services now. (It's analogous to the 2-CD package, not the mega-deluxe version with an additional CD of outtakes and other stuff.) Listened to the album proper on the way to work and it sounded great. I grew up with the stereo CD version and it always sounded a little flimsy because of the wide stereo separation. This version fixes that, and also just sounds incredibly clean since they went back to the original tapes. Also, "She's Leaving Home" is sped up, as it was originally intended. (I'm probably always going to be partial to the normal-speed version, as I don't really enjoy the sound of pitch-altered vocals, but objectively it's important that all the songs on the album be at the key and tempo that the band wanted...)

In short I would say the album sounds bigger and smaller at the same time. Tighter and leaner, but more complete. Probably not as new for people who grew up on the mono version, but it'll sound cleaner at least.

It's always been obvious that George Martin (and to some extent The Beatles themselves) was a master of recording technique, but only recently has it been made clear how muffled the previous releases were. I think we all just assumed they "sounded old" because that's just how the original recordings were.

i still don't understand how that album didn't sell. it's genuinely the best pop album in a long-rear end time, and we are in a golden era of lady-driven pop. and despite that, E MO TION sold less than a loving Meghan Trainor album

edit: i did not know that they did a remaster/mix of all of the Beatles songs on 1 and I am very glad for this information because the greatest song of all time (Hey Jude) sounds loving phenomenal

Nah, this one https://open.spotify.com/album/3LXItxKnnJcEDc5QdTc00n

They list its release date as 1967 which makes it difficult but it's listed as the Artist's Pick and the copyright info at the bottom says 2017.
