The Python keeps bringing me back into this game, even with a Clipper and Annoconda in the hangar. It's got everything you need but speed, and that can be engineered up to a reasonable degree.

My explorer DBE is named after the world record long jumper. I broke 40LY jump range after unlocking Felicity yesterday (my first engie!) and dumping saved materials into minmaxing my FSD. Just gotta make sure I take that with me when I step up to an AspX. I basically just started but I've been doing my dangedest to get outside the bubble. Messed around in Maia a bit but a boom data mission ended up running me to HIP 16813 where I found Sisters' Refuge and the Order of the Seven Bells tucked away in an asteroid base in the belt of a remote gas giant. That was too cool to pass up so now I've devoted myself to the Order. I'm bounty hunting and exploring for them (managed 5mil off my first real exploration trip!). Not sure if they'll expand but hey. They love me on that rock. Game is good. And also hella hard to step away from.

Coming back from a little mini-jaunt out of the bubble to get some exploring cash and decide whether or not I actually like exploring (I sorta do). I don't have a ton of cash or anything to immediately bling out an Asp Explorer or anything, but what's the cheapest-yet-still-effective-and-isn't-a-Sidewinder option for an explorer that also has an SRV bay, so I can land and putz around on a planet's surface when I get tired of scanning poo poo from orbit? Can an exploration-fitted Hauler be reasonably kitted with an SRV bay?

Albeit the main drawbacks are it can't fit as big of a fuel scoop, and it's much weaker at multi-roleing. But if you just want a ship to explore with, it has room for the full exploration kit (SRV included) and remarkable FSD range.

Just got back and cashed in my exploring stuff from the past couple of days, now have around 4.3 mil in the bank. The Diamondback Explorer does look quite good from the little bit of piddling around I did on one of the online fitting tools... now the question is going to be figuring out where the hell to buy one. Currently sitting in Cockaigne if that helps.

It'll give you a list of systems, sorted by distance in ly, and it'll also show you how far in ls the station in question is from the primary star. edit: pgabz to the rescue with a quickfire post there!

I'm doing passenger missions in Quince. I'm using a cobra mkIII because I was too poor to get anything better, now I just about have enough money to upgrade to a dolphin but I'm wondering if it's worth it? I was watching a video on this and he was talking about the different ships, he estimated that in a cobra you make roughly 10 million per hour while the dolphin is about 12 million per hour. That doesn't seem like much of an upgrade for the hassle of hauling back to civilization, buying a dolphin and then hauling your rear end back to quince. Thoughts?

Currently, yes, but hopefully they'll be implementing different kinds of SRV in the future. I'd love to have some sort of a big truck thing that could carry more than 2 tons of cargo plus some sort of a bigass tank for surface outpost raids. Pythons are cool and good But I keep going back to my AspX My favourite thing about this update has got to be the camera suite. It's so easy to muck around in and lets you see all the cool texture work on these ships
