I'd actually prefer the top one, bottom one forces me to really strain my eyes if I want to figure out what's what. Being colorblind and all that jazz :v:

For watching the missions, top
For planning the missions, bottom (or... both?)

I downloaded SPMBT last night. I remember why I both like it and hate it.

Do we want to make any alterations to the mission plan? Does this flyover give us anything we didn't previously know?

I'd maybe suggest adjusting the rules of engagement for the rocket-armed CAS birds - I thought we learned back in Tibet rockets aren't that great against tanks.

This is either a Kfir C10 an export version. A version with possibly an AMRAAM knockoff and precision munition.
However if we'rt realy unlucky it's a Kfir Block 60 with an improved AESA radar.
The Kfir Block 60 flies for both the colombians and gues who.. the bulgarians.

That's a Kfir C.10, you can tell by the enlarged radome for the new radar and I think the IFR probe is unique to the C.10s

Edit: it's not a blk60 as they aren't in the database as far as I am aware.

I'm omewhat concerned by the new Air Marshal's 'big ideas'. I don't like surprises unless they're in our favour.

Do we have ideas what they might be? Bombing on the mines? Our capital? Hell, rushing our support elements before we have CAP established? We still have eyes on at least one airfield, right?

What do they even have left to throw at us at this point?

We don't have any idea of their losses against the free state/SMARF, but they've been pretty goddamn horrific against us. I think they've basically lost a third of their air force at this point, and most of those have been high-value aircraft like Su-27s and a good chunk of their F-16s. Still no sign of their Su-30s though.

And if they had alcohol cooled radars earlier, Jack would've been drunk earlier. Our internet friends got more than body pillows and Kfirs I think.

[Edit] can anyone find info on if the EL/M-2032 radar those Kfirs use is alcohol cooled? Not having luck on my phone.

It's a PESA, I doubt it's alcohol-cooled. The only things that I can think of that have alcohol-cooled radars are obsolete Soviet interceptors like the MiG-25 Foxbat and Su-15 Flagon, and I'm not entirely sure on the Flagon.

Either way, more Meteor bait.

:ussr: In WWII Russian tanks had a battlefield lifespan that was about as long as the alcohol supply of their company. Russian tanks often used methanol as hydraulic fluid, and despite it being poison, when the vodka ran out troops would drain the hydraulic systems to drink the methanol, rendering the tank inoperable.

Quinntan
Sep 11, 2013
The radar on an old MiG-25 is loving huge and generates a ton of heat, more than air-cooling systems could deal with. It's also a system that's going to have to be ground serviceable, even on frozen Soviet airbases guarding the Arctic from a B-52 bumrush, and pure alcohol has a very low freezing point. It'd also be really cheap in Russia to get pure alcohol.

The hydraulic systems of the Foxbat also use alcohol, again for that very low freezing point and low cost.
