About as successful at Le Mans as Toyota
I don't think the Chevy/Penske dominating with the short oval package is going to mean much for the superspeedways, I'd expect Ganassi to be the favorite (since Andretti is clownshoes).

In the end, ECR finishes 3rd and 7th.

Crazy (and stupid) as the race was, just goes to show that Ed Carpenter's team is just as good as Penske on the ovals.

Yeah Indy picks the winners not the other way around,

If it were the other way around? Mario (multiple times, not just once), Roberto Guerrero, Michael, Marco and Scott Goodyear would be on the Trophy.

Yeah, really seemed like a similar turnout. They keep the stands at the entry to 1 and the exit of 4 closed, which are the shittiest stands there anyway and I have no idea why you'd sit there. I also have no idea why you'd sit anywhere but the Bobby Allison stands in 1/2.

RHR was loving pissed after Ed Jones chopped him coming out of the pits. Which then turned into that whole loving clusterfuck of his last few laps.

Was watching an old RPM 2 Night.

Amusing notes:
-Apparently there's an alternate universe where Alex Barron drove for Panther in 2000
-Robin Miller kept talking about how good Casey Mears was in Lights, how he was going to be the future of Indycar. How MCI is gonna sponsor him and he's going to be the next :911: star, was gonna take home the lights championship, etc.

Which is amusing considering who the lights champion was that year.

Probably the best is Marshall Pruett's
https://marshallpruett.podbean.com/

There's also the Indy Sportscar Podcast by a couple of people I've met at the track

You'd essentially be killing yourself, RA is incredible. My dad and I went last year and will be back this year. The entire ladder is there plus PWC, definitely one of the most action-packed weekends on the schedule

He lost his Penske ride to a younger dude and decided he would rather sit on the sidelines and have a winning car at the 500 than run for a smaller team this late in his career.

It seems strange at first glance since Montoya's performance all year was still solid - he just ended up with way more DNFs than any of his teammates, but he was never really way off the pace. But Roger considered Newgarden a must-get since his contract at ECR was up, and let's face it, Josef is pretty much the definition of the ideal Penske driver on and off track. I doubt Penske ever considered releasing Power to make room for Josef, and between Helio and JPM, Helio's the one with 16+ years of solid results year in and year out for Penske.

With that decision made, JPM's choices come down to having a zero percent chance at the championship but a solid Penske ride for the 500, or a small non-zero chance at the championship and a much worse ride for the 500 with nearly any other team. Seems like an easy choice to me.

There's probably a silent agreement going on here about Montoya sticking with Penske so that he can be first in line for the rumored/impending Penske entry into sportscar racing.

Yeah I guess a good 500 ride is worth something but damnit, JPM is better than 2/3rds of the field easily and now hes just getting fat eating arepas. I'd take him over Helio any day.
