I think it was the BMW thread where someone linked a polish company on ebay that makes adapters for JDM engines and BMW transmissions for ~$700.

Seems like fate!

Somebody buy this thing and stick an SR20DET in it.

I thought it was a good candidate for a 330i motor from car-part for $500 bucks and having fun with it. Looks like it is a little crusty.

That color and location make me wonder if maybe it was a forest service truck. That could explain why the changes might have been approved/made.

Wonder how much of this has to do with the USA getting the 'good' Skylines now because gee golly every import car that becomes legal in the United States jumps price hard just because of the massive amount of pent-up demand. Down here we have no idea about a 'clapped out Skyline' because a nice one (of pretty much any stripe at all) is going to be approaching $20k.

The whole 'took it for an inspection and realized head gasket was blown' makes me wonder if it's just the condensation on the underside of the oil filler that happens with all BMWs, and a mechanic assumed incorrectly it has a blown head gasket.

Since everything legal is early 90s and before visibility isn't an issue so I've not run into a time where I wished I was on the other side of the car.

I, too, enjoy looking at Jags. Unfortunately, the community around them (typical frothing-at-the-mouth purists, from what I can see), parts availability, and of course Lucas electrics make me never want to own one. The only bit of the purist thing I sort of get is for original E-types, other than that I don't really care.

My parents had a 1960 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 for a while when I was a kid. My favorite part about it was on the back of the front seats there were little wooden fold down trays.

Nicely shaped car, and everyone on the road treats you with tons of respect.

I swear the Cadillac my parents had when I was about 5 had those too... would have been the early 90s so I assume the car was from the mid-late 80s.

It, and the 88 and 91 Crown Vics that followed, definitely had cigarette lighters in the rear passenger door handles which is a good amenity for small children on long road trips.

What time is it, Eccles?

quote:

This car sat from 1966 until 2017. Some rust in rocker panels and trunk. Motor is a Ford flat head V8 and turns free. I have not taken the time to see if I can get it running. Too many projects.

I have original wheels with 3 rings and 4 caps. They will go with the car. Tires are shot. Wheels and tires on the car are for moving it. They do not go with the car.

Floors seem OK. Hood hinges where frozen, so hood is a little bent up. Needs a good cleaning up. Doubt it would take too much to get it on the road. Very solid car to start with. Has Fulton sun visor.

I am primarily a Ford guy, but if it runs and drives, or goes BOOM, I might trade. Make me an honest offer.
