Popular culture has passed you by.
Favorite monsters:
Other Mother from Coraline
Naked Golden Angelina Jolie from Beowulf
Fat Beholder from Big Trouble in Little China, unless we count the Three Storms, if we count the Three Storms then I pick the Three Storms

I saw Crimson Peak yesterday and I thought the ghosts were neat. The movie was OK I guess, I rather liked that all of the ghosts were just trying to be nice. The "twist" was utterly laughable in a post-Game of Thrones world, though.

So, there's a white nationalist front summit in Boston in two weeks that's going to end up as a clash with antifa, and I just found it it's scheduled at the same time and location as a large medieval LARP. So, that's my life.

edit: Place me in whichever of those groups you like, by the way.

The details are still vague but hopefully it was a decent deal.

The question was favorite monsters. In order to get George Bailey to not kill himself, God first attempts to fool him into thinking that literally everyone in town would either be hosed, worthless, or disappear without him.

SPEAKING OF MONSTER MOVIES

It's the second day of May, so I'll go ahead and remind people that we have a May Horror Movie Challenge thread. Set a goal for how many movies you'll watch (I've been recommending 13 as a minimum), watch them, talk about them. If you like horror movies or you want to get into the genre more, it's a fun way to watch a bunch of new stuff you haven't seen.

I gave Burton C. Bell and Dino Cazares from Fear Factory hugs and the drummer from KMFDM bought me a beer when I saw those bands live, does that make me one degree from the Mortal Kombat soundtrack or do I need to see Stabbing Westward and fist-bump their guitarist or something first

I want to like Fear Factory but the guys singing voice sounds really off in a way I don't find pleasant and he uses it a lot. They have a few good songs though (though my favorite song of theirs is a remix.
