I wonder what the author's definition of 'explicit' is then.

That title sequence was weirdly ripped-off from Fincher's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Odd.

I think "slow panning over multiple images and objects" is vague enough that no one has a claim on it, and probably existed before 2011.

Haha Dexter really stands out among these. Even in the intro everything about it reeks of a lovely novel you would (not) buy at an airport.

I just meant in terms of the music which is exceptionally similar vOv Of course I've seen other titles sequences in that vein. The combination is what stood out to me. First episode was interesting but possibly too self-indulgent to be actually engrossing. Leprechaun was brilliant though. Gonna be interesting to see how it all progresses, it's been years since I read the book.

Also did you miss where he mentioned farming indigo for white men's purple suits in his speech? Wearing the suit was a symbol. He has what they want. He's playing them. He's a showman. It makes all kinds of sense dude. Symbolism.

Indigo is used to make blue dye, not purple. Purple dye is made from snails/whelks, for at least 2000 years before the scene on the ship. Not that the audience knew or cared. Same with "police", "tobacco", "cancer" etc. terms that likely meant nothing to this particular audience in the 17th century. He was saying what he needed to say to get them to sacrifice. Even if it meant stretching the truth.
