Oh Jesus my job has literally nothing to do with my degrees. The pay isn't anything to write home about and I don't like working from home.... but it's fun and I only have it because of 1) SA and 2) telling that voice in my head to gently caress off and just follow my interests as much as I wanted and it helped me out big time professionally. Still anxious about appearing on camera though. Like Abe's heart screaming from clone high anxious.

Also before my kids last game yesterday we were watching the game before finish up and it was pure chaos because the refs were for awful and t'ing up everyone and arguing with coaches and fans and it was just a mess. One dad pops up to try and make sense of it all with the refs and after a double take I turned to my wife and went "Uh...thats Kurt Warner...". I met Kurt yesterday and he seems cool as gently caress.

I took seven years to get my BA and graduated in 2000 looking for a job in silicon valley, lol. But it still worked out eventually. To be honest I don't really enjoy my career choice but I've been financially locked into it for 17 years and changing course now would be hugely expensive. It's ok, just work eight hours and then do fun things with the rest of your life instead of trying to make a career doing something fun. That's what I tell myself anyway.

That's badass to me. If you want to see some pretty impressive precision re: wood check this out Prefinished hardwood flooring with no microbevel. Square edge. 3.5mm wear layer. It's indistinguishable from site sanded and finished flooring and I do not say that lightly at all. I dislike 99.999% of prefinished flooring we see just based on the bevels but this stuff is next level. But no surprise they're a bunch of lazy Europeans so we're looking into doing it ourselves.

Wicked expensive. Wicked cool Yeah. 3rd generation family operation. If you ever have any questions about hardwood flooring, finishes, products, etc. reach out. Consistently about 15-20 employees + subs over the past 10 years. Noadvertising or real foresight had been put into it from when my grandfather started it to really the past couple years. Just built up from being high quality and not being a dick. Primarily installing and refinishing but we've got a crew doing full time epoxy now which has been huge. I work in the field maybe 1-2 days a week now which is awesome because I like the manual labor + accomplishment side of things, and I actually like installing. But even if it's a day of moving wood or taking 80 sheets of plywood into a building it I don't mind. When I came back from school in Jan 2014 I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to be working with the family so I worked here for a while and then got a "real" job for a year. I'm glad I did because I realized how little I can stand the idea of working in corporate America for a billion reasons, but I was pretty decent at it. I ended up turning my "real" job into a "consulting" job with them which I do for 15 hours a week on top of the 40-50 I've been here the past yearish . I'll stop the consulting probably mid to end of summer but the situation as it works now is good for a variety of reasons.
