Well, I think my world is borked; a Sim Settlement residential zone seems to have built a business at the same time, and the two buildings are joined in some Philadelphia-Experiment hideous manner. I'm positive Don't Call Me Settler is responsible for this.

So I guess my next step is to finally learn how to write mods for this game and re-implement all of the functionality in Don't Call Me Settler in separate modules. I'm a programmer but it's still a little daunting. For example, is there some way I can find out how Don't Call Me Settler implements some behavior (such as burning all corpses near settlements and transferring their contents to the workshop) so that I can make sure I don't do it the same way?

You can look at the mod's Papyrus scripts, and probably dig through its other information with the Creation Kit.

Yes, and if you read hore mans' post you'll see that they're explicitly trying to avoid doing things the same way, which is their reason for looking at its scripting :)

I just don't understand the appeal. Like, I'm pretty sure there must be super elaborate porn games out there in TYOOL 2017, so if you want to jerk it to a video game you might as well as use one of those.

I like Don't Call me Settler but I removed it from my load order recently to avoid that kind of thing. I've heard it can cause savegame bloat or corruption, so probably best to just remove if you're using it. Hasn't caused me any problems, and Fallout4 seems a bit more (knock on wood) resilient to game breaking bugs and crashing.

Yeah, but it's essential. Just the "Burn, Baby, Burn" functionality is so insanely useful that I've been reticent to remove it from my load order for just that single piece of functionality, despite the risk.

After doing a number of LOD optimizations I now have pretty much all of Boston running at 30-60 FPS. There are still poorly designed buildings, which I'll probably get fixed sometime this week, as well as areas of the map were I could stand to make some design changes to help out the occlusion culling. I'm also going to have to create some textures and work on a number of UV maps. But, this is going much better than I had actually expected it to. I'm hoping that alongside Shadowboost I'll be able to manage a solid 40-60 FPS throughout the entire city. Since the lag problems seem to mostly be an issue on the engine side of things (I have never seen my GPU or VRAM hit 50%) this should really boost everyone's performance.

Seems to have made some of my settlers have mismatched skin/head colors and maybe broke all the settlement beds from being usable by Sleep or Save

edit: settlers seem fine now after I came back later :iiam:

Mismatched skins seems to just happen randomly no matter what. it may be the load order of specific mods,
to be honest, as all I have after hundreds of ingame hours in this game is a single settler in sancturary, (apart from the usual crowd) I decided to go along with my original plan : synth settlers + sentry caravans.

There's a lot of conjecture about how DCMS breaks save games, and I don't understand how mods work, really, but my understanding is that:

1. DCMS includes behavior that names settlers, gives them outfits and levels, and provides a shortcut key to allow you to quickly trade possessions with settlers. None of this seems to be the behavior that breaks saves.
2. DCMS also includes behavior for marking raiding party members with quest markers, and letting the player know when all members of a raiding party are dead.
3. DCMS also includes a set of one-off utilities that are either invoked by the player with the DCMS settings holotape, or by pressing a shortcut key when DCMS prompts the user. This includes Burn, Baby, Burn, which finds all corpses around a settlement, transfers their possessions to the workbench, and turns the corpses into ashes so they get collected by the engine. It also includes General of the Commonwealth, which finds settlers who don't have jobs and assigns them to available resources. This can be invoked at the individual settlement level, or across the entire Commonwealth.

My understanding is that the one-off utilities are the problem, because they run on timers, or have weird conditions on how often they loop, and attach scripts to objects in the game which sometimes don't get cleaned up.

If you don't mind spending a few minutes cleaning up after an attack Scrap Everything let's you scrap corpses manually, and I think there are a few other mods which let you do the same thing.

I appreciate that, but I don't want to do that. I hate wandering all over creation looking for corpses. Especially in my WotC playthrough, an attack on my settlement may involve three or four raiding parties all drawn to my settlement at once, with many dozens of corpses to deal with afterwards.

If I recall correctly there are some vanilla scripts designed to remove the corpses of NPCs spawned by quests, so you could probably apply some of those to the workshop attack quests. You won't get an inventory transfer, but if there's anything that was causing save corruptions it was probably that.

You could also look at the Salvage Beacons mod, which uses disposable items placed in containers which transfer their contents to workshops. You might be able to use that concept by adding similar items to the inventories of workshop attack NPCs.

Have you got Scrapper Corpse Highlighting? One rank of Scrapper will highlight corpses when you draw your weapon. I think they have to have been killed by you and not friendly fire or environmental damage, though.

Woah, been a while since I made one of these cool Nexus mod list things. It's sadly crawling along at the moment waiting for behind the scenes stuff to happen I guess?

Anyway first off, do you like the lore friendly new weapons being introduced but would rather play with Horizon? well some nice modder got in contact with the modders of those nice FNW/F2 looking guns and now you and the NPC's of your Horizon save game can play with them! Official Horizon Weapons Pack Merge gives you access to such classics as the China Lake Grenade Launcher, Mauser, Holorifle and more!

Always wanted to use 3rd person more but found it a hassle to switch to 1st person for shooting stuff? MGS Style Aiming transitions your camera seamlessly from 3rd person to 1st when you prepare your weapon for some rear end kicking!

Ever wanted to have an electric guitar as a unique looking melee weapon? Fallout 4 B.C. Rich Warlock Guitar makes you kick rear end in style!

Look sometimes you want to be a bit of a bastard in this game and what faction represents pure cold human evil better than the boogie men of the Enclave? America Rising is basically a mini expansion themed with quests and gear themed around those crazy water poisoning bastards. And when your done being evil, why not settle in this Remnant Bunker too?

Hate how filthy the Commonwealth is despite the war being two centuries old but want to clean it up the old fashioned way with your two hands and be rewarded with resources for it? Commonwealth Trash Collection is a mod focused on doing that and soon you can single handedly bin every piece of litter in the land!

Miss the old fashioned over the top burning skeletons, melting into goop or ash style kills from the original games? think the current attempts in F4 to do this are a bit bland and samey? well, CROSS Crit Gore-verhaul is a version of these crit kill animations that makes using energy and fire based weapons a hoot (not for the other guy he's going to die horribly)

GUNS! at last, some of you FNV fans have waited for this day. Gritting your teeth and using the mods that introduce lore unfriendly modern guns just to have something like it. But fear not, the Assault Carbine from New Vegas is finally here at last!

If you are like and are a massive lore nerd and hate how annoyingly shiny Deathclaws look like now check this Detailed Deathclaw skin that reskins them to look more like their original or F3/FNV that makes them look less shiny and more old school.

I've been using this for the past week or so, and even though I'm pretty sure it's responsible for the occasional random CTD that I've started getting (shades of EVE there), it's such a loving blast in how the crit effects are implemented that I don't even care. :hb:

As it turns out the occlusion culling for terrain works significantly better than it does for static objects, and there's nothing stopping me from just deforming the ground inside buildings to match their visible profile as closely as possible. So, uh, I'll probably upload another test version tomorrow.

The cool thing about this is that it means I'll be able to release a slimmed down version that will work for both consoles.

You're right, I had AO disabled for ENB and forgot to turn it on when I did some performance tests without it.

Still, my GPU is only ever being taxed around 30-40% by the game, the main problems are on the CPU end, those being draw calls and shadows.

So I'm trying out Horizon and I don't have any of the ammo trouble I hear everyone talking about. Between the vault 111 freebies, the 50 fusion cells Garvey gives and every raider giving me ammo, I'm pretty much set for the next levels. I don't have any other overhaul/loot modification installed, am I just missing something here? I'm just not feeling the super hardcore vibe. It's a shame because the mod looks promising.

Yeah, AO being a screen space thing, I don't expect it would impact your visibility culling (assuming that's what you've been doing) improvements. The world just looked very sad being so flat. :saddowns:
