I've really been enjoying Watamote lately, I think the series started kind of weak and one-note but as Tomoko has slowly been getting to know more people she's kind of found out that noone is really normal and everyone has their quirks. It's done this without relying on stereotypes or over-the-top slapstick and has now a really solid cast of secondary characters. Emoji-face is probably my favorites:

I can't remember where I dropped off in Watamote, but it was moderately early on. I was kind of hoping at the time that it was going to follow an Onani Master Kurosawa route of having the MC gradually become a better person, but it seemed more than content to just keep things status quo and rely entirely upon the awkward comedy.

Her progress is slow but it's there, it's only been like a year in-manga so the pace is realistic I think. The Kyoto field trip was a turning point so if you want to jump back in it starts at chapter 69.

Likewise. Good to hear it takes a turn, as fun and cringey as it was, it was getting rather tiresome with no character growth. I think she was just starting to talk to the library girl when I dropped off.

The progress really is very slow, but by the latest chapters, Tomoko actually seems to have friends and peers she hangs out with. So now she's still an awkward goonlord, there's actually been progress in improving from that. I dropped it for a while for the same reasons, but picked it back up out of curiosity, and actually it's kind of nice how subtly she changes.

There's a fairly new series about a widow and her neighbor, a highschooler who is on the baseball team and eats a boatload. She loves to cook and she invites him over for dinner every night since otherwise he'd just eat garbage. It's very chill and despite the "ecchi" tag it's not really fanservicey aside from the author's admitted thing for cute girls in sweaters and jeans, and really, that's about the mildest "thing" possible. http://kissmanga.com/Manga/Yakumo-san-wa-Edzuke-ga-Shitai The relationship between the two main characters is cute, and I honestly wouldn't mind if it stayed platonic, despite the romance tag.
