Patrick Ewing was my favorite player growing up, and I wore #33 on every sports team I've ever played for because of him. Hell tonight I'm playing softball as a 30 year old man and my jersey still has #33 on it.

A masterpiece of Dutch Renaissance painting and a particularly good example of Northern Mannerism . You may notice the artist, Freidrich Van Vleet, has inserted himself in the painting.

Obviously, inspiration was drawn from Spranger's Hercules, Deianira, and Nessus.

Broke down and bought the Swith version of NBA playgrounds yesterday after remembering I buy unfinished games like Ark and Astroneer. Will post in depth impressions tomorrow. Wait to buy it at least until I post more. It is not nearly as good as any NBA Jam game. In some ways feels more like the Looney Tumes BBall SNES game. Going to pour a few hours of playtime in to give it more of a chance. The one positive so far was my first epic player pulled from a pack was Dirk.

I'm liking it a lot right now on PS4. I've just been playing the single player tournament stuff so far, but my John Wall/Jrue Holiday squad is killing it somehow. I think the CPU just sucks though cause I've only lost once.

I'm gonna try to get some online play in tonight...probably gonna get owned by three pointers.

e: the stats are real bad though. Jahlil Okafor with 8 stamina? lol. and how does Wall only have a 7 in speed?

The stats are all over the place but to me the worst part is the gameplay doesn't feel nearly as tight as the last NBA Jam. Also, not having quarters and just having it be one timed sessions feels weird. Still going to give it more of a chance but if EA released NBA Jam On Fire Edition 2 tomorrow, I'd never boot this up again.

Yeah, I feel like it's an ok game but really needs an update to fine tune some things.

Big thanks to dokmo for teaching me some things!

Last year I did a Most Improved Player rating thing. I'm gonna keep doing it and refining algorithm until I die. Last years results for reminder:
My rankings in ( )
1. McCollum (2)
2. Walker (14)
3. Antetokounmpo (10)

So here are this year's:
1 Russell Westbrook 38.45
2 Giannis Antetokounmpo 24.57
3 Harrison Barnes 22.16
4 James Johnson 19.95
5 Goran Dragic 16.85
6 Lou Williams 15.82
7 Tim Hardaway 15.61
8 Ty Lawson 15.15
9 Isaiah Thomas 15.14
10 Jrue Holiday 13.62
11 Spencer Dinwiddie 13.58
12 JaVale McGee 13.55
13 Devin Booker 13.01
14 Nikola Jokic 12.22
15 Montrezl Harrell 12.20

My actual prediction is 1. Giannis 2. Doesn't matter. I'm aware that the algorithm is way too box score based. It's something I'll definitely look into in the future. Carmelo was dead last btw w -6.93. Consistency Award goes to Gallinari and Gerald Henderson at .02 and -.02 respectively.

every time i see dekker play he plays well, but i don't know if his 3 is strong enough for what MDA wants out of the playoff rockets

either harell or dekker would allow the spurs to stay big which helps them protect the drive and lets them overplay the 3

interesting to see what happens

could probably go either way, depends on what the energy out of the 7 looks like i'd guess. even then though, only anderson, cappella, and ariza would benefit from it because harell and dekker are bigs, right?

Dekker has not looked good in the few minutes he got since his injury. His hand is still hosed up, and he's not a great shooter anyway. He has played some PF this season.

I would like to see 10 or so minutes to Montrezl. The rebounding would help and if the other Rockets players are any indication, he'll be able to channel the ghost of Chuck Hayes and shut down Gasol/Aldridge in the post just fine.

Either way yeah the Rockets do not have a good bench situation.

Also: lol at the Rockets pictures on the last two pages.

The importance of this mission cannot be overemphasized
Harrell looked great on offense playing the 5 that stretch in the season where Capela was out and Nene was gimpy, he was tremendous setting screens and rolling to the basket and grabbing offensive boards. Though Capela also looks great in the PnR this season after being so-so last year and Nene has been a beast in the PnR this postseason so far, so probably that's just a general 'James Harden makes your center look great in the PnR' than anything particularly special about Harrell.

Isn't Harrell a bad defensive rebounder, when the Spurs have destroyed the Rockets on the offensive class?

They just need him to hustle after rebounds, finish decently on the pnr, and play okay defense, for 8 minutes total, and they go from intensely taxing rotation to reasonable rotation. Also if aff was here he would say Bobby Brown time baby give Bobby that ball

Yeah I was surprised that Harrell fell out of the rotation entirely as Nene and Capela got healthy. He's not real big on "boxing out" or "defense" but he is better than Dekker at rebounding.

It's too bad Onuaku is still raw as all hell since his game is basically what they need right now, not to mention the potential glory of him icing some game winning underhand free throws over the tyrant Popovich.

it's a totally differently composed shot with an utterly different meaning, but it kept reminding me of that Ross over Faried shot

which might be the metric by which a "how did he finish that" scale could be defined, dunno. In retrospect I think that dunk may have ended Faried's promising young career.

Tonight's Rockets/Spurs Game:

I feel like I went back into a time warp and watched the SSoL Suns vs. the... Spurs. I think running a rotation as shallow as seven players in a playoff game is insanely dumb no matter who those seven players are. And I was like "man isn't that just like how the Suns lost in the second round to the Spurs back then" so I found the box score and D'Antoni's Suns lost game 5 of a 2-2 series in 2007 by only three points playing a 6-man rotation.

Like what's the deal? Why not bring out Dekker and Harrell at least for spot minutes? Both of those guys played over 1000 minutes for the Rockets this season and are at least hovering around replacement tier players. Even if you only use them for 5-8 minutes each, that's at least spelling some of your other players so they have the energy to not be so gassed at the end of games you have multiple long no-scoring droughts in the most important game of your season. Am I crazy in thinking this?

There was also a ton of contact in this game and I feel like the calls were slightly beneficial to the Spurs, but not to the point that I would whine about it more than D'Antoni's strategic choice.

I cannot tell if you're trolling by posting the game Diaw and Stoudemire were suspended for or not.
