Yeah, apparently they didn't think that having it stick out so you could actually push on it was a good idea until, like, the third revision of the M16.

An AK style safety lever on an AR receiver. For... some reason.

Anyone have first-hand experience with Elcan optics? I was in a gun shop this morning and noticed that the LE/Mil discount was -$500, but the owner said "Anyone who's ever actually used an Elcan knows that's still too expensive"

Not sure why he tried to talk my buddy out of a sale, but...

The elcan I had on my 240B when I was in seemed to work pretty well, never had any issues with it. From all I've ever heard they're a good company with quality products.

On the subject of retro guns, I really want this along with a Nodak M16A1 clone. There's just something cool about retro AR platform guns that aren't full of a bunch of ridiculous stuff.

Is there a percentage minimum for disabled vets? I think most of us rate at least 0% and that still somehow qualifies.

Edit: I looked up the discount and while it's open to disabled vets, AD, guard/reserve, and retirees, in order to get the discount you have to provide an LES or a copy of your orders.

Which a disabled vet ain't gonna have, lol. Well done S&W.

You can probably get by with a VA document. Or find one of their dealers who knows what's up.

I'm a horrid Beretta fanboy, but I can't say I'm a super big fan of the PX4. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but the ergonomics just don't suit me. Something about the grip, I find the sights a bit too chunky... just little things that just didn't suit me. If they work for you, I would definitely buy. I can't comment on the price though.

And failing all else they are crazy reliable.

Also shares mags with the CX4.

It's an OK price, not a screaming deal. Prices on the PX4 have crashed lately, you can find LNIB examples on Gunbroker for sub $400 pretty regularly, depending on how long you are willing to wait. I haven't put enough rounds through one to form an opinion, but I know some people who really like them. Have you personally tried it? If you want a polymer gun with an external hammer, the PX4 and the Sig P2022 are both the unloved, discontinued children of their parent companies and can both be found for <$400 these days. Of the two, the PX4 has more options in terms of low profile or de-cock only levers.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who likes the M9. Sure, the frame safety is impossible to reach, and the DA pull needs a kickstart, but it looks mean and puts bullets where I point it.

That said, fired a buddy's P320 because one day I may actually get my hands on an M17 and hooooly poo poo is that thing snappy. I know "every time it goes bang should surprise you" for basic fundamentals and stuff, but that first round out was so sudden I nearly dropped the drat thing.

The M9 is okay. It fits my hand well, though I don't like where the safety is located. I know the 1911 is "outdated" and single-stack but holy poo poo that's the most comfortable pistol I've ever held in my hand. I'd recommend it over a double-stack to a lot of people with smaller hands, especially one in 9mm or .38 Super.

My favorite combat pistol remains the M&P45. It's comfortable and the ergonomics give it the felt recoil of a Beretta 9mm.
