According to an interview in Edge magazine, Splatoon 2 is going with the same two-map rotation like in the original, except the rotations happen every two hours instead of just four. So there's bound to be variety during one day of gameplay.

It keeps things fresh and stops the "2fort/de_dust only" mentality taking root in half the playerbase.

If it was 3 maps then the two hour rotation would be perfect. I'll still gladly take it over the 4 hour rotation, tho. I sure hope these Squid Sister Stories continue to be nice and good and nothing bad happening

I'm probably super slow on this but I went back and watched the reveal trailer for Splatoon 2 and I just noticed the map with the inklines is Moray Towers 1:1 meaning there are going to be returning maps. Wonder what other ones will be coming back.

I'm hoping all the previous maps return over time. Not at launch, but if they are doing the continued support thing again, a couple returning at launch, and the rest padding out the gap between new maps would work. On the other hand, that would mean a poo poo load of maps, and 2 every 2 hours would mean ages between maps being available. I generally liked Towers, and if only a handful return with it, i'd want Heights, Camp and Museum.
