i hope the pacing of cold steel 2 is better than 1 because it was wayyy more sluggish than trails in the sky first chapter, partially due to the overabundance of needless establishing shots, pans, characters walking, etc. but also due to the vita version's load times due to all that the pace was almost as bad as xenosaga 2, except that xenosaga 2 was awful in many ways not just the pacing. cold steel was still an enjoyable game. but boy do i not want to play a jrpg for a little while

Whether or not you feel like you're a part of it seems to vary from person to person. I felt like different kinds of crap happened each chapter, personally.

Xenosaga 2 is only saved from being the worst JRPG of all time because crap like Time & Eternity and Last Rebellion exist. And I didn't play those.

i think one of the worst aspects of TOCS is that it still is doing the tutorial-esque "get to know the town" quests even in the second to last chapter. it adheres too much to a formula that would make more sense if each portion of that formula was smaller, and you could then play it like an episodic game. but each chapter is like 6-7 hours!!!! from free day to student council tasks to practical exam to field study tasks to more field study tasks to Now Its Time to Save the Town this is why i need to take a break before i go back to doing Sky Second Chapter because i would like to compare the pacing of the two but after doing Cold Steel and BOTW back to back I'm burnt out

apparently xenosaga 3 is the best one because it's the one where things happen because they couldn't spread it out across six games so they just slammed everything into 3 instead it also censors out the blood in its english localization??? for no reason??? which totally fucks up a few of the cutscenes???
