These GOP fucks are going to stand by Trump until they get their healthcare and tax bills through then they'll give him the boot. Democrats will say how it's a Sorkin-esque return to normalcy while the middle class continues to erode and poor people continue to die.

Also, its not like everyone slides up a spot if Trump leaves office. Pence becomes President, then selects a Vice President that is confirmed by Congress (both houses). Its how Gerald Ford became President without ever actually being elected.

Like seriously, the democrats need to stop going whelp nothing we did wrong here everything is great full speed ahead while the republicans gerrymander every state to put every democrat in the cointry into one mega district and while they rear end gently caress the country while giving the double birds to the democrats And the democrats are like well we need to just reach across the aisle and appeal to their sense of morality and that'll convince them gently caress that. The democrats have been loving up, hosed up in November, and are continuing to gently caress up

Join the DSA. It ain't perfect by any stretch and experiencing some major growing pains (but with how fast it's grown that's to be expected). Meetings are good and we've got a few lower level elected officials. Basically we gotta be entryist. Our voting system and election structure sucks and Democrats seem hell bent on resisting any move to the left because then they would have to stand for something.

In all honesty, I'll probably just keep showing up and voting straight D every election, but it'd be nice to have some kind of movement in the left that wasn't immediately sabotaged by their own side. Fox News outright promoted the Tea Party, and Occupy Wall Street got... poo poo on by everyone, even the press and politicians who should've been on their side. Gee, wonder how we got to this point.

Spoeank posted:Grow They haven't cooperated with Trump on anything. Name one thing that he accomplished that he would not have without the help of Democrats. I was genuinely worried that under Schumer they would cave, but they haven't. Even when Obama was President they passed all his signature laws without Republican votes. The compromises were there to win over the votes of shitheads like Joe Lieberman. The party has grown much, much more liberal in the last decade. And come on, guys, the ACA isn't everything we need, but it was a huge step forward and a law that all liberals can be proud of. I know that idealism by definition involves high hopes, but measured against where we were to where we are now, the improvement has been great. For the first time, Medicaid became a comprehensive single-payer program for the poor. The individual market finally got some structure and substantial patient protections. Millions of Americans are better off. Compromised laws that pass are better than perfect laws that don't.
