Considering it has been more than a while, I'm open to suggestions on how to make the rest of these Thousand Sons look better than this one.

You could take the blues higher, probably via glazing - to really make those panels pop. Also, the eye could take a red ink touch, pump the contrast in the brass with a sepia wash and highlights, and the purple cock rag could pump the contrast up too. But it's pretty nice man. Also, what's your basing plan?

Hadn't really thought about it, usually I just go with the old standby of dirt and green grass. Being Thousand Sons, I suppose a desert base would work?

Hey guys, I've got a Forgeworld update for you regarding poo poo that has rules but no model.

As a man who has the artistic skills of a rock, and has always lived by the 'It looks fine from 3 feet away rule' take solace in that it is better looking than anything I have ever, and ever will, paint.

My only criticism is that you have your blue shade and highlight reversed, so the blue doesn't pop as much as it should. Also, a nice contrasting base will do wonders for you. I think it looks good otherwise. berzerkmonkey fucked around with this message at 12:54 on May 18, 2017 |

Yeah I think the base is what will change things more than anything else on that.

Does the Deathwing use any Cataphractii?

Definitely do the base before you pass judgement. A desert base could look cool both thematically and also to make the model stand out. If you still want to do more, consider adding another highlight to the blue. The highlighted areas look good but another lighter layer would certainly make them pop.

moths posted:Does the Deathwing use any Cataphractii? Model-wise, go nuts, they look dope and I have a squad in my backlog that I'm gonna use for exactly that. Rule-wise, because of course this is the Worst Legion, you are hosed. The Cataphractii data sheet says squads of them can replace Terminators or Assault Terminators in any Space Marine formations, none of which applies to Deathwing at all.

I've made a few changes to that model (a lighter blue highlight, a bit of wash on the gold, a warmer purple on the cloth) which I think look better now, now all I need to do is... step foot in a GW store for paint. God help me.Artum posted:How did you do the purple loin cloth? I kinda want to paint the cloth bits on my sororitas purple. Naggaroth Night > Xereus Purple > Nuln Oil, then drybrushed inwards from the sides with Xereus Purple. I've never been good with cloth but this way's always given me decent results.

I personally like my GW store. My manager is very friendly and they are no longer required to try and sell you poo poo.

Thank God. That was always my number 1 issue. I don't want to have ultramarines stuff pushed on me after a quick chat about how I'm collecting salamanders, good God.

My closest GW store is run by a nice dude but there's always one guy there hanging out with him who has the stereotypical grating nerd voice and talks loudly and excitedly to anyone who will listen. I'm assuming it's a friend keeping the employee company but he really does lend the store a certain ambience.

Mine used to be run by an MRA who would constantly try to push extra poo poo on you no matter what you bought, going as far as looming over the shoulders of people who're painting and playing and listing off stuff he thought they should buy. Personal space was at a premium in that place.

Tank Shock is basically being replaced by Vehicles being able to hit in close combat. You want to run something over, charge it. Low chance to hit but high S. Games Workshop posted:Generally, these attacks will have a poor to hit roll (5+ or 6+) but high strength – because if a Land Raider runs you over, you’ll feel it. There are exceptions of course – Ork vehicles can be kitted out with some pretty deadly close combat options, which now function just like any other specialist close combat weapon: get hit by a Deathroller, for example, and prepare to be a pancake.

Did they say in an earlier article that vehicles can only charge into close combat if they didn't move or shoot the previous turn? I swear I saw that somewhere, but it isn't mentioned in this article.

The preorders that are going up this weekend (the Sigmar skirmish stuff) will be released the 27th, so next week's preorders normally would go on sale the 3rd. New editions usually have a two week preorder window though, so I'd expect it to be the 10th.

Except that the core rules and datasheets are free downloads. Not one hundred percent sure, but they may be going up at preorder time.

I recently found out I had a local GW store. The first impressions were great and then I found out in order to play in any events you're required to make a specific model purchase. The SW:A event that was held required a terrain purchase with 0 prize support.

My first impressions were great because the store owner said he wanted to avoid what he called "Competitive douchebaggery". this sounded nice until i went to a few events and found that the guy was really way too optimistic about the types who come to these games.

If a vehicle charges you, I wonder if that locks you into a combat with it or it's just a 1 round thing like before.
|
# ? May 18, 2017 15:23 |

I imagine it'll fall under the same rules as other combats i.e. you can withdraw but you won't be able to shoot and charge. Then again maybe vehicles will have a caveat about withdrawing.

One of my friends pointed out that you can now use your vehicles to absorb overwatch. Want to charge a unit with flamers using your acolyte hybrids? Charge that goliath in first.

DO IT TO IT posted:If a vehicle charges you, I wonder if that locks you into a combat with it or it's just a 1 round thing like before. I hope it locks you in. Makes sense that the unit has to spend a turn moving away from the giant kill-dozer trying to crush them.

You probably resolve charges 1 unit at a time since they're copying every other mechanic from AOS Tanks unloading dudes and charging to absorb overwatch will be a very good tactic

Master Twig posted:One of my friends pointed out that you can now use your vehicles to absorb overwatch. Don't forget that units can take multiple overwatch shots unless they are locked in combat,so you would need the charge to be successful.

Will starweavers with players with powerful pistols charging be a thing? Like giving players a toughness 8 4+ shield in close combat or something. Thats kind of interesting. What other open top vehicles are there you can fill with pistol troops?

That sucks that you guys have such bad experiences at your local GW. It might be a case of them having to meet sales quotas? Mine is really rad. I've never had them push anything on me, and the manager played a full game of SW:A with me when no one else was available. Even the other customers are cool. No one is gross or weird, no over the top grognards.
