Apparently most of the SA Destiny thread is in the top .01% of Destiny players. On one hand, Bungie has a really good point about not wanting people to get stomped. When you offer ranked vs social the social playlist will inevitably become a place where good players go to stomp and feel like gods. Just look at how people in this thread reacted when they discovered how the Legacy playlist was full of scrubs. On the other hand, motherfuckers with Activision money should use some goddamned dedicated servers to ease this problem and should default to CBMM if the pool of SBMM players is too small to provide a good connection. Also I played a lot of COD4 with goons and I don't remember how matchmaking worked, I don't think it was skill based though, and if we were getting stomped we'd back out after the round and find a new lobby. I don't really see what's wrong with that system, there's plenty of people playing the game. Dedicated servers won't do poo poo to fix the lag. Glitchy fuckers playing on a 56k modem in Brazil will always be glitchy fuckers playing on a 56k modem in Brazil. All dedicated servers might buy you is it's slightly easier to penalize laggy players so they aren't unstoppable murder machines. But this requires Bungie to actually admit it's even a problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if we learned a decent amount today. They brought in enough streamers that I'm sure the right questions will be asked. And if we get cagey responses to questions like "will there still be skill based matchmaking?" then we'll know the answer. I.e. "Well, we believe we have a solution in place that most of the community will find equitable" = "we are going to gently caress you unless you are literally a sentient potato"

I hope someone does an edit of the stream afterwards where it takes out all the bullshit padding and vague interviews where people say "its gonna be great, watch this space" and where they talk about (((LORE))) and just condenses it to the 3 mins of actual gameplay we get to see.
