Instant Jellyfish posted:My dog and I take dog classes online because he's brilliant and loves learning but also hates all other dogs and car rides. One of the classes last session involved teaching your dog how to learn through mimicry and they posted this compilation of the dogs showing off their new skills. It made me so happy to see everyone having so much fun! My favorite is the dog in foreground at 4:03 showing that he can do it too Mimicking didn't work for me. I took one of my dogs to a field to play fetch, I would throw it and he would just stand there so I would go pick it up and throw it to him and again nothing. After a while it dawned on me I was playing fetch with myself while he played in the flowers. I felt really dumb

I just want to say that this thread has been a huge help this past week since my grandmother passed away I'll admit it's kinda weird though, I loved her, and definitely miss her and am sad about it, but I haven't cried once about it, like I showed more open emotion about my cat dying back around Christmas or my older brother's ex girlfriend committing suicide back last July, like I know that's perfectly normal, but I still feel kinda guilty about it

Whatever it happens, it's perfectly okay. Take care of yourself and don't feel guilty.

I think part of it might have been the manner of how she passed; complications from the aftermath of Cancer related surgery back around Easter, she had been in the hospital for almost a month when she died, so I guess part of me had been expecting it to happen, while the other two recent deaths in my life happened much more suddenly and much more senselessly

Take care of yourself, and don't beat yourself up over grief being weird. You're going to be okay. Also, have this: https://twitter.com/dogpic84/status/865402526635499523

You are not alone in these feelings, 3 grandparents and an uncle passed but they were expected and there were no tears; they were expected. Best friend shooting his self in front of me and 5 years later I still cry. No guilt in how you morn, just remember the good and you will honor their memory. Even the simple things, doesn't have to be some big memory. Condolences, get with family and remember the good times it helps.

If someone has been sick for a long time it can be a relief that they aren't suffering anymore. You're still sad you'll never get to see them again, of course, but it's not the same punch in the gut as a sudden unexpected death.

drrockso20 posted:I just want to say that this thread has been a huge help this past week since my grandmother passed away Don't worry. This happened to me when my mom died. I think I had been mentally preparing myself for it for months before it happened. I was really close to my mom and when she died I was devastated, but for a week afterwards there were people in my house all the time and I just didn't cry once. And then suddenly a week later, when I was alone, I started to cry nonstop. I couldn't explain it. Don't worry about how you grieve and don't let anyone tell you it's "not normal".

He doesn't look anything like an Akita to me, but he's still a Good Boy. (I would have guessed part Husky from the eyes. He definitely has the Staffordshire colour patterns, though.)

Friend from Final Fantasy MMO who wishes to remain anonymous found a bunch of abandoned kittens. They are a vet and waited a few days checking every hour or so for a mother to return to reunite the little wee ones but no go. So for the last few weeks now one bard goes afk periodically to feed these. They will be nursed and cared for until old enough for adoption. They have been waking up every 2-3 hours to feed the little fuzzy beans. They only just opened their eyes. And every so often over voip whilst gaming we will all hear the "Mew mew mew!" and know what time it is.
