If there are evil Sith ghosts like there are good Jedi ghosts - hell, if the Sith invented the technique first - it would actually explain how the gently caress all this rule of two poo poo could work out and also cover for the obvious 'what happens if the chain is broken somewhere and now the half-trained apprentice has lost all the advanced teachings.' Answer: Ghosts.

Now obviously ghosts are contrary to the core themes of Star Wars (that being "Han Solo") but I think we should consider it.

Ghosts are canon, though. They show up in Clone Wars and Rebels a lot.

So I've got a little question. How did most of the Imperial military think of Vader? I've heard somewhere that most loved him as a kind of "soldier's soldier", but that seems at odds with how disposable he seems to treat everyone.

The admirals are afraid of him. Post a new hope.

Anyone lower than that is not shown to think or have opinions.

I think the strongest argument you can make is "they dont interact with him" but he is at least, reliably so, shown to always be engaging if not at the very vangaurd of troops he commands.

Thats also probably because he is a glorified shock trooper more than strategic or command asset.

Everyone should play DUKE games.

:dukedog:
I liked how in the Marvel comics after Empire and before Jedi there was an internal conspiracy of Imperial admirals that plotted to kill Vader, I mean they failed and all got owned but after how Empire plays out I can't say I blame them for trying.

Thinking he'd be great as the latter was another long term miscalculation on the Emperor's part. It's like poetry, it rhymes.

Bodhi Rook basically has a PTSD moment when Saw sounds like Vader as he takes a huff from his assisted breathing apparatus in Rogue One and he's just an Imperial cargo pilot. I'd assume from that that most Imperials just straight up fear him, as they should.

In seeking to get the public to associate him with Vader, Bannon revealed himself to actually be Kylo Ren.

Vader is cool for mechanical story telling reasons since he's a force of nature pursuing the heroes who have no hope of defeating him, but he has no agency or personality beyond that. Lucas kinda lucked himself into that one, but the twist in Empire was a pretty genius way to introduce some depth to the character and refocus the entire conflict with the Empire.

A couple of LEGO sets leaked, got some new character deets out of them

Of note:

Now, Pimp Snoke isn't actually a new leak (MSW reported on it at the top of the year), but the somewhat-normal skin tone and build is interesting.
