He did a lot for reintegration of the north and south after the war iirc and talked a lot of southern army dudes out of going geurilla.

The incoherence of the critiques is manifest on both sides. The USA has a traitorous slave-owning general on its $1 bill. Tipi Sultan was "on the losing side" does that mean we shouldn't esteem him because we lol he a loser?
