Even if you don't know how to cook, you can get a #10 can of basic tomato sauce for like $3 and just put some salt, pepper, and basil in it, if you're really trying to squeak by. Crushed tomatoes are even cheaper, but the basic tomato sauce is at least seasoned a bit so it's not quite asking somebody to make pasta sauce from scratch. Plus if you aren't trying to save every penny, you can take that $4.50 you saved and get some ground beef or spicy Italian sausage and get some quality meat protein in your cheap meal.
