I'll give you one decade, but beyond that, yes, he is making loving bank doing this TV show... well... made bank.

Like 2 and a 1/2 men, paying the big-name is what brought viewers in. Allen has always played well to older crowds, and the subject matter was right up their alley, so they stayed.

The problem is advertisers don't pay for shows that play well to old people. Sure the ratings were good, but the show didn't make enough money, and it was about to make even less once it started paying out bonuses contact extensions.

Also, 6 seasons is about as long as any show can reasonably go before it becomes stale, so chances are good it was pretty close to LOSING money as viewers started fizzling away.

I was surprised they got to use the Redskins name and the Snyder family name in the show. I guess it's a parody but they do touch on the race issue a bit.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a great show and you should watch it.

I never thought I would behold characters with less self preservation instincts than "let's pet the snake alien" guy from Prometheus, but he reached for the stars.

That's sounds pretty realistic to me. I can't tell you how many times I've told a nurse, "hey, this guy says he wants to punch you in the face. You should get someone else to give him meds." Their usual reaction is to walk right into the room with their hands down and their eyes off the patient, like they want to get socked.

The lack of self-preservation in Alien Covenant can be explained away entirely by how insanely good Weyland-Yutani's worker's comp plan is combined with the state of health insurance at the time.

Is there a scene like from Prometheus where they just kill off half the crew for no reason?

The weirdest thing about Ridley Scott is he's still a completely competent director.

The Martian was one of the tightest, well made films I've ever seen.

It's probably because he has so much creative control over prometheus and covenant, and he's really trying to preach that weird alien religion he believes in now, but holy crap how the mighty have fallen.

I have no interest in this poo poo. Alien owned, Aliens owned, Alien 3... owned? Alien Resurrection...... did not own. Alien Vs Predator... it was aight. Alien Vs Predator 2: was goreporn bullshit and terribad awful.

Missed Prometheus entirely.

The weird thing is that Prometheus and Covenant would totally work if they weren't Alien movies.

Prometheus has this theme of "What if you find God, and he is dead?" that gets abandoned for monster poo poo halfway through.

Covenant has this theme of "What does it mean to be greater than your God?" that again it abandons for monster poo poo
