Something went bang in that kind of area. Some reports are suggesting it was near the box office.

There's been a number of those across Leicester over the past couple years. Large oil filled transformers entered an unconventional failure mode. One of them destroyed a light industrial unit, the other knocked out power to half the city, and again when they tried fixing it, and another blew in all the windows of the Spar where my friend works, not long after it had successfully reopened after flooding related issues.

Fortunately no deaths in any of those cases, but someone ought to be looking after infrastructure more carefully.

Choose life, Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family then wonder why you bothered because the odds were stacked against you from the start if you've not got a public school education.
Choose a society where bankers are worth more than doctors, nurses, police and carers, either priced out of buying or mortgaged up to the eyeballs for 50 years for a 1 bedroom flat you can barely afford to heat, that cost a tenth of the current asking price, 20 years ago.
Choose good private healthcare because the NHS is being set up to fail. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments on Help to Buy, ensuring some millionaire landlord, somewhere, can pay back the loan they've somehow indemnified and offset against tax, for the other half of the overpriced property you won't ever completely own.
Choose sitting on that couch watching subliminal, politically biased TV, kidding yourself that you're doing well to get on the housing ladder at all. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, which the government will sell your 1 bedroom flat to pay for so there's nothing left for the children you've worked hard to raise. Choose a generation burdened by billions of pounds of national debt amassed in pursuit of "strong and stable" post Brexit economy.
Choose your future. Choose life . . .
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons?
Who needs reasons if there's five more years of Conservative austerity to look forward too?

When people point out he wants to have us adopt the Nordic model, Captain poo poo-for-Brains says that doesn't count because it's not socialism.

Last year my friend set off alarms that resulted in her whole 12 storey apartment complex being evacuated due to getting home drunk at 5am, putting pasta on, and promptly falling asleep.

I think it's protocol to have the bomb squad do their thing after an explosion. From the descriptions so far, it mostly sounded like some kind of electrical explosion.

It's still quite bad, but I really hope it was just an accident and the risk is over.

It's a bit how like Attlee wasn't a socialist even though he self described as a socialist and the Conservatives called him a massive socialist because it only counts as socialism when everyone ends up starving and dead.
