I installed the stuff and started over. I turned on 'rest anywhere' because of the 3-4 dungeons in the game to the point I got to, 2 of them don't even allow you to backtrack out of them so if you run out of raise dead, you're effed. That's killed 2 of my runs now and I'm not letting it claim a 3rd.

If that's been killing your playthroughs then that tweak is definitely a good idea for you.

In my case I just had a ton of saves and loaded the game if someone (other than the Nameless One) died so it was never a big problem for me. I never used the raise dead ability. :P

Got old saves working!

Going through Watcher's Keep at the moment before returning with the Lanthorn to kick off the last stages of BG2.

About to finish level 3 (maze/teleporter level) and am a little bored of this part. Once I am done with the Scepter of Radiance can I easily leave Watcher's Keep and finish SoA but then come back when imported into ToB and continue with my progress? Or do I need to commit to finishing all of Watcher's Keep now?

You should be fine. Watcher's Keep wasn't really intended to be done all at once unless you started it after beating SOA.

You're given the stone and the scroll when you first enter the Keep. You can't get into the Keep without the stone, and you can't complete the quest without the scroll.

Switching gears for a second.
I seem to recall that upon the release of BG II Enchanced people were complaining that there were some very problematic bugs in the game.
Did those ever get fixed, either officially or unofficially?

It's been updated several times. There aren't any major bugs that I know of.

The Android version is a couple patches behind though.

Man I've been breezing through Hordes of the Underdark (and SoU too) without much challenge at all but chapter 3 is suddenly kicking my rear end. Specifically I just woke up the Sleeping Man and entered his stupid vault for some ring and these skeletons are absolutely demolishing my party. First time I got to the second big skeleton who killed one of my henchmen (I can't remember which) after I went in without any real prep and I decided gently caress that, I'm not wasting a rod of resurrection charge on laziness, time to reload. Now I can't even beat the second spawn of like 8 skeletons. They take about 5 seconds to surround and kill one of my henchmen. This game has some humor calling the skeletal minions merely 'challenging' when I just beat a Dracolich with 'impossible' rating no sweat a little while ago - even with it resurrecting once before I got the phylactery down.

I figured the game was pulling one over me and I didn't figure out the gimmick so I relented to searching to figure out what I was supposed to do, but apparently I'm in fact just supposed to kill these things normally and guides don't even comment on them as difficult in any way? Yikes. It feels like a crazy strange difficulty spike compared to absolutely anything in chapter 2.

iOS has a game breaker where once you get out of, I think Spellhold, this sailor guy doesn't appear. Saemon*? Something like that. Anyway, he doesn't appear and you can't progress to the fish people place.

You can see how well I know all the names and locations in this game. :colbert:

I had a game breaker in the fire giants base, and my requests for a fix went ignored when I emailed support. Quest item didn't spawn because of dialogue mid combat or something.

I cleared the lair, and have spent hours combing over it and nothing's changed.

Yeh, their support basically said "we could help if you were on PC, but not on iOS, sorry" - so I quit, picked it up a few years later and am now finally about to finish BG2 and move onto ToB for the first time ever - I never had the expansion back when I first played this almost 15 years ago.

I have chronic new character syndrome in the baldurs gate series but I'm really digging the stalker kit. It has lots of proficiency points to throw around starting with dual wield, I can get my backstab fix without the weakness of a thief. He's probably weaker than a multiclass fighter thief but still pretty dang strong.

I'd love to play Baldur's Gate 1&2 and get the Enhanced Editions and everything, but is there anything that can be done about the spell selection UI? Story wise, no. Not at all. The only limiting thing in SoA I can think of is player strongholds and ToB doesn't have anything like that (or rather it has a player stronghold, but it's the same for every class).

OK very very final fight with Slayer in Hell... I must have done well over 100hp damage since he entered 'Near Death' status. What gives? Why can't I kill him?

EDIT: Oh you have got to be kidding me... this is a known bug. fuuuuuuuck

EDIT 2: you can overcome it by turning party ai on and off a few times and pausing and unpausing the game regularly, according to one forum. I tried this and it (appears) to have worked. I did HUNDREDS of damage to it but it made no difference.

I hate to say it but this is why you shouldn't play janky old games like BG on an iPad/Mobile Device :(

If you're a European consumer the EU's introducing a new mandatory rules relatively soon (next 1 - 2 years) that'll mean if you encounter game breaking bugs the company that sold you the product will be obliged to fix it or give you all your money back.

It's dumb but I enjoy it as a conclusion to the series, especially with the buffed Five fights from Ascension.

It's ridiculous how past a certain point armour class just becomes more or less useless unless you've got a very specialised set-up, e.g. a Blade or a character using the big metal unit.

On harder difficulties this definitely drives things more towards absolute defence (Protection from Magic Weapons, Stoneskin, Mirrored Images, Mantles Iron Skin) rather than relative defence (damage reduction, AC).

This is one of my big complaints about SCS actually. Every single enemy and their brother will use remove magic on you and the only way to protect yourself from a dispel while preserving your buffs is to have a much higher level than the enemy (not going to happen) or Spell Immunity, which is caster only and Arcane only.

I think in the EE you can still get mixed divine casting classes to very high physical reduction: Armour of Faith (25%) + Hardiness (40%) + Defender of Easthaven (20%) = 85% Physical damage reduction.

Yeah, SCS is fun, but d&d combat taken to it's logical conclusion is a wee bit silly.

My personal beef with SCS is that too many opponents quaff entire bandoliers of potions. Not everyone should have access or cash for so many potions.

Logically it makes sense though. If someone is being paid 5000 gp or more for some kind of assassination or weapon smuggling or something they are certainly going to invest in some potions that will make them invincible or do shitloads of damage in fights. Even if it's just some random dude near the same level as you he's bound to have a bunch of potions, assuming they are as easy to get for him as they are for the PC.
