I am going to unbind my mount key and wander Morrowind 100% on foot for an authentic experience. I will also create a new character and about 2 hours in just delete him to simulate classic Morrowind crashing.

I get at best around a 140 ping, usually around 160-180 but it's not really noticeable (maybe if you are a PvP super tryhard that needs perfect timing and animation cancelling but otherwise meh)

I don't want to embarass myself but oh my loving god I am nerding the gently caress out right now running around Seyda Neen. It's just as much of a cruddy dive as I remember it.

Best. Expansion. Ever.

Edit: Oh my god. It has the census and excise office from the start of the game. Even the building is the same, complete with references to Morrowind's intro. They did their homework on this expansion.

There's even a hidden skyshard in the area for those who indulge in their nostalgia.

So how ~immersion breaking~ is it with the density in morrowind right now? I'm almost tempted to wait a little while to start it so I don't have 100+ people camping the same quest targets/areas. I'd like to take my time and savor the environment without being nut-to-butt with 1,000 other people

Certain key quest areas in Seyda Neen are packed.

When Alemalexia showed up she had a gigantic crowd of players gawking as a result. It fit the event though.

More of a general question, but doesn't the crazy guy who wrote Morrowind and decided that the hole in the install CD would be official part of the creation story still get consulted on things like this? I hope so.

At least we're not the Thalmor (yet)
So, I've played for about 5 hours straight and before I hit the bed, I'm gonna say what I think:

It feels like a pretty good cover of a popular song. Fundamentally, there's not much missing- some things have relocated a bit, the world is almost certainly not to scale with Morrowind's Vvardenfell (again, remember, TES 3 Morrowind is and always shall be Morrowind)- it feels significantly smaller. Obviously it's 700 years in the past, so I'm not expecting identical. And so far I haven't found anything that particularly offends my sensibilities (other than being able to ride a guar across Zafirbel Bay). For example, the Vassir-Didanat mine is pretty much where Fort Moonmoth would be.

So far there's a few references I've seen- Vivec, obviously, is around. I got a good chuckle when I put the pieces of Canon Llevule, who you escort in a very early quest into the Andrano Ancestral Tomb to meet an ancestor, and figured out where that name came from apparently one of my descendants is going to deliver his skull to an Orc who is certainly NOT practicing Necromancy in the Balmora Mages Guild.. A good chunk of the Telvanni Council are familiar faces, except far younger and generally less crazy in some cases.

But if you're looking forward to this expecting it to be A New Morrowind you're going to be sorely disappointed. It's not the Vvardenfell you remember. And that's fine, you can load up Morrowind (TES3, remember) any time you want and play it. They're paying homage to the original but in their own game and putting their own spin on it, and making some smart references to the past (or future, if you want to get chronological with it). If you played ESO before it's like The Rift and Eastmarch zones. Similar, but not exact.

Morrowind is a game you can get over 50 hours of playtime in. ESO Morrowind, they say about 30, and let's face it, they always overestimate that (but I think it's closer to the mark than most).

Thinking about getting back into the game. Is Morrowind treated like Orsinium, where you can visit it anytime you like (as fas as i know, that was the idea, I barely made it to level 20) and is everyone flocking to the new area, leaving things barren.

When this poo poo finally finishes downloading, I'd like to join the goon guild, because goddamn it was boring as well going at it alone. Are factions still important? Daggerfall dudes had a boring as poo poo starter area.

I covered all the story quests I could find during the PTS (no repeatable dailies, no BGs, no crafting just using picked up loot, no skyshard hunting) and my test Warden /play time was roughly 35 hours by the end of the Main Story (Which I saved for last.) Running around I'm noticing quests I even missed then, but on PTS I at least had all the questing achievements completed. Caveat, I didn't really mount up at all (not like itd make a difference on a character with no riding training) but I liberally made use of porting around on wayshrines so that definitely influences time spent.

So what's the rotation for a magblade look like now? I decided to give DPS another go last week and was just starting to get good at it. Now with the patch it feels like my magicka craters in 30 seconds and trying to weave in heavy attacks just feels clunky and fucks with my DOT uptime.

Looks like it's back to tanking for now...

VanillaGorilla

This is a really well-done expansion. The writing is pretty good, the world design is great, and they've really done a lot to try to diversify some of the quest objectives (offering multiple paths, embracing stealth, etc.).

It still suffers from feeling like it's a little constrained by the engine and the MMO framework, but not as much as it has in the past. Really impressed so far.

The rotation is the same, you just need to throw in some heavy attacks to regen mana. If you're still running OOM too fast, you might want to swap to a sustain set (Seducer/Magnus) over a damage set. And use a Lightning Staff. What most people are going to miss about the changes is the fact that although fully charged heavy attacks return way more resources now, if your target blocks or dodges the attack you get zero returns, which is why I'm advising a Lightning staff; its heavy is a channel which is undodgeable.

As far as tanking goes, good luck. I tried Saptanking on PTS and it was absolute poo poo.

The new Sotha Sil thread on the ESO forums just provided the greatest source of comedy ever

For a bit of background:
Any time a PvP campaign is shut down, anyone holding the title of Emperor in that campaign will retain that title permanently (without the buffs of course). Whether it's a bug or not I'm not sure. It's basically sort of a "bragging rights" thing, because very few people actually can claim that they kept that title on their account forever.

Anyway, the dumbfuck in question was none other than forums favorite Vurian Johnson, who's basically sort of a Donald Trump figure (complete with "libtard" insults that got him banned from the forums lmao). This turbosperg tried to get the perma-emp title on Haderus before it was shut down for the Morrowind update, but was straight up denied because absolutely no one likes him, even within his own faction. I'm talking about people who played DC that got on AD/EP alts just to stonewall him. So, while everyone was re-adjusting their stuff for the changes in this new update, this sack of poo poo went and basically played an empty campaign just so he could be able to claim the "first ever Sotha Sil campaign emperor" bragging rights, all while talking poo poo about basically opening up Oceanic time-zone branches of his guild just to "keep the map blue" 24/7.

Which led to the above burn.

Yeah wow, it feels like they kicked my nightblade in the dick overall. I can still tank alright, it's just... not as fun. I don't get why they thought making resource management worse would be enjoyable.

Maybe I'll go FOTM and roll a warden. Is there a good DW/bow warden build yet?

i think genocide is Not Good. to work with your analogy, this has less to do with fighting individual trolls, and more to do with calling for the elimination of all trolls, everywhere, for being antithetical.

stendarr isn't like 'hey! one vampire! give him a tussle!' and more like 'eliminate all the vampires'

most of the aedra are by and large 'better' than the daedra but they're still not very good.
