bawfuls posted:Koufax had a hosed up early career development because he was a "bonus baby." In that era, if a guy got a large enough signing bonus he had to be on the major league roster not stashed in the minors, so Koufax was forced to develop in the majors starting at 19. It took him until age 25 before he figured out how to not walk everyone. He literally never threw a single minor league pitch. Tell that to urias and your repeatedly dying pitching staff

Inspector_666 posted:Isn't part of the point of DWTS that fan popularity can buoy a celeb who can't really dance so good? I've never watched it but it seems if it was just about technical dance ability that show would be boring as hell. Yeah probably, but it made me really cranky to see like 3 capable women get bumped in a row in favor of him. Especially when Simone Biles got bumped instead of him. Probably just my tendency to see racism in fan votes, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. None of that's David's fault (and he's why I initially tuned into the show) but I will probably never watch again.

For what ever it's worth, David Ross had by far the biggest built-in fanbase going into the show. I didn't even know Simone was on it until 2 weeks ago, but MLB/the Cubs been promoting David like he was still on the 25-man.

Lester's feat last night of throwing a complete game while getting 10+ strikeouts and 0 walks in under 100 pitches was only the 6th time since 2000 that's occurred. The last time it happened was by James Shields in 2012.

Mike Trout has a wRC of 217, the rest of the Angels combine for a wRC of 81. That difference of 136 is 5th all time, behind 02, 04, 01 Bonds and 57 Williams. Good poo poo Arte.
