The voters are conflicted because the right-leaning voters are going "he's a nice enough guy and cool musician, but a little too naive and idealistic, I'm afraid we need a good strong republican". Hillary was loving hated, A literal felony the night before an election is going to push voters towards the guy they kinda non-politically liked as a person anyway.
