This is goon blasphemy, I know, but the whole "shower beer" thing is stupid as hell. Yeah that's exactly what I want, a beer watered down by the hot shower water that gets splashed into it.

Oh my god I agree so much. I had a shower beer and it was so...not bad, just not even remotely necessary. The bottle was slippery, alternating between washing myself & drinking was unwieldy, there wasn't a good place to put my beer out of the way of the soap, and the shower made my beer warm. Taking a nice shower and having a beer as I dried off would have been infinitely nicer, but I just haaaad to try the shower beer. :sigh:

Baths are alright for the brief period when they are still hot, and not all bathtubs are the uncomfortable cramped ones you always find in college apartments. I just get bored in them though unless there's a TV in the bathroom.

They are about four seconds after you get in. Twenty seconds later they're cold.

Like this dude said, you don't have to settle for lukewarm. You can open the drain and run more hot water in every so often. Also, bath pillows are cheap and pretty great, but you could use a folded-up towel to accomplish the same thing (i.e. something cushiony between your back and the edge of the tub). Set a footstool or TV tray next to the tub with snacks and drinks. Baths aren't for getting clean unless you're a small child; they're for relaxing and enjoying the feeling of being immersed in hot water. Throw some bubble bath solution into that poo poo. It's fun.

If your bathtub is small enough that you'd describe it as a "cramped container", then there's nothing to be done for it, I guess! Also you're Australian so it's likely that you're like eight feet tall so I dunno, maybe just hit up a spa.

The thing about a shower is, you set the temperature to what seems hot when you get in, then 30 seconds later you adjust it to be hotter because you've gotten used to it. That is impossible to do with a bath. Even letting some water out and adding more, it doesn't mix, you just get hot bits and cold bits until it gradually all becomes lukewarm again.

I'm about 170cm. I've never encountered a bath that was large enough for an adult human.

A spa is nice because it's being constantly heated and is big enough that you can actually keep your entire body underwater. A bath is a rapidly cooling pool of water that bits of you are sticking out of.

It's kind of hard to convince people to knowingly vote against their own interests though. I mean, they do it all the time, but they don't think they are. If a politician was 100% honest about what they were going to do, pretty much nobody in the group of people that would be hurt by the changes they are proposing would vote for them.

I know you're probably thinking this stuff is isolated to the South because you're jastiger, but people are inherently selfish and will usually only help others if it doesn't hurt them in a meaningful/major way to do so.

The reason it's not more popular is because people like you are convinced that's true and don't bother to understand just how extremely little their lives would have to worsen to make a huge positive change in the world

I feel like you're arguing against positions I'm not talking about or supporting. The point is they think it will harm themselves. They are often wrong, but what they think/believe is what determines how they vote, not what the truth is, because they are ignorant of it (intentionally or otherwise).

People are not inherently selfish, that is what I was saying was bullshit. That is why I quoted the sentence saying that people are inherently selfish and said it was bullshit. The line that people are inherently selfish is used to discourage people from trying to understand exactly how their lives would change, to nip the problem for those in power in the bud. That's what I said then and that's what I'm saying now.

They think improving social support networks will hurt them. They vote against it because they don't want to be hurt. How is that not selfish? It does not matter that they are wrong, all that matters is what they THINK. They then use these thoughts to govern their actions. When they act in a way they think benefits themselves more than others, that is pretty much the dictionary definition of selfish.
