All a 'free' press signifies is that it's privately owned, that's not the same thing as a responsible, truthful or diverse press. In fact, as we've seen over the last couple of decades, they aggregate over time into a small number of companies, with diverse interests themselves that conflict with the public good. It's not even taht 'truth is in the middle', it's taht it honestly has no bearing on the matter at hand.
