If a team doesn't have good wave clear against Xul, he doesn't need to go near a tower to take it. Just constantly rotating to clear waves and spawn skeletons will naturally wear down towers with active defenders, and will take forts without.

It's also because pushing across the bridge is a death sentence in most games. You're extremely cramped and there are lots of heroes who can just impede your progress backwards.

By the time you're at the bridge you shouldn't have a "solo lane".

The point is there's no reason to ever push the top lane in Dragonshire. So you can just let your solo guy safesoak without worrying about getting any siege damage in.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
So Hanamura: at the QM, low/mid ranked level, if you knock down both of their forts and keep them from knocking down your forts, you are going to win the game. You don't really need to defend them pushing payloads, I mean, you should put in a token effort, but don't get wiped for it or lose a bunch of soak. Try to defend the payload as it crosses the lane so you get XP. They are gonna get it eventually. You don't need to be in a hurry to push your payload, you're gonna get them eventually, and they'll be worth more shots (with both forts that's almost HALF as many payloads you need to push). The camps give a shitload of XP, so if you can bribe or otherwise quickly do the camps, you don't even really need to soak both lanes.

Just commit to pushing the forts, you don't have to 5 man a single lane, but splitting up over and over again to try to get picks, defend payloads, push payloads, rotate lanes, etc, is all a waste of time. If you get the forts down you win (assuming the other team isn't capable of just wiping you over and over). Obviously if you can get a keep that's super awesome with the sappers that spawn after.

Have had a lot of teammates recently angry about people not pushing payloads or defending with their lives or whatever. None of that poo poo matters unless they are going to win with the next payload or boss.

Man. Can somebody tell me how to Xul. I always feel completely worthless and ineffectual when I try to play him.

I've been using him to counterpick other specialists with some success. He can bully Sylv/Azmo/Murky/Zagara really easily and reverse the lane momentum.

It seems counter to his passive, but he really shines when he's roaming. Show up, scare whoever is pushing away, instantly clear the wave and replace with skeletons, wander off.

The skellies stick around until he makes new ones. It's why he's so good at roaming -- Q, W, let his trait make four new bodies, then mount and throw a bone prison on someone in another lane.

Removing the enemy's top lane structures gives them no safe retreat zone up there and makes going for that shrine a very risky option.
Heck even soaking past the bridge is not safe if your top fort is down since that huge opening above the bruiser camp exists.

The biggest thing that Xul brings to a team is that his root takes like 1.5 seconds to go off. This gives your teammates enough time to get their poo poo together.

It's the mobility and range. They built into her kit the parts they nerfed or took out of other mages within the first year. Guldan is pretty solid too/ditches the usual positioning and glass cannon weaknesses of other mages without sacrificing damage for it.

Medivh seemed really lacklustre given he has exactly one damaging ability, whose cooldown reduction doesn't play well with the structure damage gimmick.

Then again when I picked him it was against 3 Li-Mings and 2 Jainas.

Holy poo poo that's bad. That is awful, and it's more awful because by the QM matchmaking rules as we know them, that is absolutely one hundred percent a valid match for the game to make. I am in general not an advocate of adding a ton more matching rules for QM, but a screenshot like that is basically a distilled blast of why sometimes my opinion is rear end-fuckingly wrong.

Basically the only thing I can think of to make it worse would be if the Genji had been Varian instead.

Take Astral Presence at tier 1 instead of Power Hungry and you'll be able to sustain much better in teamfights.

A good amount of League experience and a shameful amount of DOTA games but I'm fairly new-ish to HOTS. Played a bit a long time ago and just started playing again a week before 2.0 dropped. D.va's been pissing me off since.

Been a while since I played league, but iirc the way it ended up working out was "pick a primary and secondary role you'd like to play, then wait quite a while for the queue, then deal with the guy who queued up with ADC secondary and got stuck with ADC." Queue times were VERY bad for some roles, and you basically couldn't queue as support or "fill" as a secondary because if you did you'd get support 100% of the time. I think they've added an "exclude" option now for fill.

I would love something like that for ranked but it would make the queue times insane for the abysmal population.

Queue times were abysmal even for the league population. It got to the point where for high rank (diamond-challenger) queue times could easily be upwards of 60 minutes.

It wouldn't. You queue up by lane position in league which isn't a thing in hots. There's still plenty of types of characters that go mid, you can still have clown shoes no tank

What do people think of talents for nu-Alarak? At 1 and 7 specifically, I'm not really convinced that the Sadism-reducing talents at those tiers are all they're cracked up to be--especially the quest talent at 1. It is hard to get to 15, and the reward seems pretty anemic.

Both Lightning talents are good at level 1. The healing boost one can be useful if you don't have reliable healing. Overall the quest one is better imo because once you complete it you get your sadism back. More importantly the slow it gives you lets you trigger the CD on auto talent you can pick up later. The rewards for the quest talent are pretty powerful. Make sure you're targeting the minions behind enemy heroes in lane to help stack it early.

At 7 I think both telekinesis talents are good. The slow one has some decent utility but overall the the boosted push range on telekinesis has always been powerful. The sadism you loose for this should be compensated by the extra picks and safety you get from the boosted push.
