The real brain teaser that will keep you up is whether FW is going to keep using the same scale for future infantry HH releases or whether the Primaris will turn out to be a stealth whole-line upscale like everyone thinks. Which is going to be super fun, because they've inherited the AoS "tiny head" syndrome a bit so we'll have entire armies of lanky kongs.

Also, working on my Toxx still after losing family, losing a house, losing a car and regaining two of those in the space of three months. It's been slow!

It might be too much to add at this point, but I like my seeker squads to have more than a cupola combi-plas, and their proteus to have an augury web and multi melta. Makes them a major threat to anything on turn 1.

It is!

Played against a Mastodon full of termies and firedrakes and a kharybidis with Vulkan and a command squad.

I shot up the Mastodon ok but was unable to kill it the first turn so this happened:

Firedrakes were unable to pop the Proteus and the termies punched up my two tac Rhinos. Fancy termies failed a charge against the Leviathan, which stomped in and did some work.

Then this happened:

That was pretty much the end for me. All 2+ infantry, a primarch and a LoW is a rough matchup for all of my high volume low AP shooting- I probably should have bunkered up a little and tried to spend more time shooting the Mastodon, then just forced ten million armor saves on him and hoped to get enough 1's.

Props: Ironwing seekers shooting template shots (12 small blasts on tightly packed firedrakes was great), tac marines shooting bolters, the scorpius.

Slops: Sicaran Venator whiffed on every shot, I need to build my laser vindicators.

In hindsight his list wasn't legal, since Primarchs Chosen doesn't let you take a LoW. Whatever, I'll give poo poo about it next time.

Even if there is an eventual move to 8th, knowing for sure what is going on makes me feel a lot better. I am sure we have at least 2 or 3 more years of 7.5, so I am happy buying the new printings of the red books now. I have been holding off on anything Horus Heresy related other than painting up basic troops that were going to see play whatever they decided to do.

A lot of the rumors were along the lines of "AoS is the entry level game, 40k is the mainstream game, HH is the grog game." I think it makes sense from that perspective.

RIP Bligh, hope the cancer wasn't from too much resin dust.

With the future of Horus Heresy finally revealed to be the prophesied 7.5 I feel like I can finally start working on building a list. How does this look as a solid base to build from? 4 scoring units is pretty handy, and I plan to add a lot of the toys when I move to 3000 points.

I'm not even talking like tourney-level poo poo, Marksmen Vets are so good you're actively gimping yourself not taking them, and that kind of balance sucks.

As someone who plays in lots of events both narrative and competitive and just beerhammer I was getting pretty desperate for a breath of fresh air in 30k. There is a large and growing list of straight up retarded poo poo in heresy that is just going to continue to pile up same way 7th edition 40k did. I moved away from 40k because of all the broken and spammy stuff and the last 12 months of 30k gaming I have seen this style sweep into heresy. Oh well at least this gives me a heading on what to sell and what to buy this year. I am going to run haywire and vultarax spam with no mercy and when marines players cry I will whisper in their ear "8th edition would have saved you"
